Downloads the same file again and again

Featured Replies

My install keeps stalling and if I restart it usually it stalls on first file.  After several minutes it will continue so seems best to not interrupt it.

Can you imagine all the wasted bandwidth due to all the failed / restarted downloads.  INSANE!

If Bill Gates new about this he'd get the problem solved ASAP.

I'm on hold with FS2020 until this is solved.

pls xplain to me why not everyone has that issue???

I'm not the engineer here but will make the observation that partial downloads should never be restarted from the beginning.  That is web 1.0 behavior.

"Download errors" tend to be user errors. Did you, for example, mess with the base files?

Closing MSFS and restarting it again to allow the download to continue was the only way I could seem to resolve the loop in the download (at around 9gb downloaded). All up and running fine now though.

I don't have (almost) anything installed yet other than a few folders.  I chose to install to c:/fs2020.

The Downloader needs to deal with crappy connections is the problem IMO.

Also I flat-out reject your statement.

The response from my Zendesk ticket has no bearing on the problem - restarting partial downloads from the beginning.

In my case, I didn't "mess" with anything. I didn't change any files, or even look at them. We're working on a very demanding project and don't have time for that.

The program was working fine, then it said an update was required so I did the update. At first I had no idea why it seemed to go on interminably long until I noticed it was stuck on the same file.

Of the many dozens of programs I keep updated, mostly related to our shop's work, this is the only one that has a problem with its updater.

pause ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 .... unpause

got the download working again for me.

Asobo's posted suggestion is to note the exact file name of the file that is chocking. Pause MSFS download, or even exit MSFS. Find and then delete that file from computer disc. Restart MSFS.

Anyway that's what Asobo says.

OMG I finally fixed this after watching it go for 12hrs and reboot after reboot, I went into my router and limited the download speed to 5.0 Mbits/s which is basically dial up speed and no more looping. This is next gen stuff right here.

The issue is directly related to an Amazon CDN issue. Yes MS uses Amazon.  This was discover during the alpha. I did a packet sniffing capture when I had the issue. Basically the remote server keep sending TCP Window Size reset. Which basically make the file download reset back to 0. It's 100% an Asobo server issue. The only work around we found was a netlimiter to reduce the speed the file would download from the server.

Nice, I can push upto 10Mbits/s but over that it starts to burp. At this rate it's gona take like another 5hrs. but at least it's not looping.
