August 18, 20205 yr LOL I dont have a dog in this hunt. I have to admit I always love to watch on Sim release day but I just don't recall seeing anything like this train wreck. It is not funny at all. I actually feel sorry for all the folks who are having so many problems just getting the thing to download. I am usually a sucker for new things but I have a really slow internet connection and decided to sit this one out for a few months and I am soooo glad I did. August 19, 20205 yr I don't think any sim has had this level of complexity at initial release. I think everything one can read here is to be expected. But just to balance things out, I've had an amazing first day or so - have been deeply impressed & this, to me, is clearly the future of simulation. It is quite frequently stunning. Yes - we need patches, and we need the complex aircraft we are used to. But this forum is inevitably going to be filled with gripes as those who are having a ball with it are not as likely to post as those with issues. It is really something else, this sim. Even with all the hype, with hours of videos I've watched, it still takes me aback. Not just the visuals - the flight model feels as close to real world flying as I've ever experienced. Not unlike XP at its best, but with some other magic going on which makes the whole experience zing & feel correct. Obviously I've not flown all these aircraft in real life, but there's a particular sense of airframe responding to environment with a balance of stability and instability which is incredibly immersive. In my view the fundamentals are excellent and all the rest can be built on this.

I've been at this since FS2 and this first day beats them all (IMNSHO)............. August 19, 20205 yr Perhaps we'd've had an amazing day too, if the thing would download 🙄 Train wreck is absolutely right, I'm within a whisker of getting a refund (and either spending it on P3Dv5 or another hobby enitrely, sod flight simming!), this is an £80 product (so some of the most expensive consumer retail software there is) and it won't even install for many of us. I've spent over 4 hours troubleshooting, many GBs of data consumed, yet I don't even have 2 out of the 80+ GB of files on my system. It's shambolic. 41% of Steam reviewers state they advise against purchasing MFS, that says a lot. August 19, 20205 yr The Cessna 152 and 172 also the tbm - feel incredible to me. Flight model has surpassed my expectations Having a decent yoke makes a huge difference Edited August 19, 20205 yr by tommy10101
August 19, 20205 yr I can't speak for P3D but the aircraft fly so much better for me than in XPlane. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub

Exactly...seems very fluid...I spent 10 minutes just doing Touch and Gos amazed at how the plane feels coming in for a landing. Best sim landing experience ever. Adjusting the controller sensitivity down made the stick feels just right.

I love XP but this just feels right. Might be because my frame rates are double what I was getting with XP+orthos 🙂
August 19, 20205 yr For those having download issues. That blows. I got my firmed up and running last night no issues whatsoever. Downloaded and loaded up. Im on trip right now but when I get done in a couple fo days, I hope I don't run into them. I would expect to see several new job postings over at MS.I have never used Steam but I know it is a big deal to T off that many people. No wonder MS has so many employees in these forms trying to pump things up. Yeah, but to be fair, it also says that well over half of them are not having a problem, or at least not reporting one. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Even if they are not having problems they still don't like it. I mean man some of those folks will buy anything that shows up. I wouldn't get on a flight where on average only just over half survived... Anyway we'll see if the myriad of download problems are fixed by tomorrow night, if not I can't use it and I will be getting a refund; it's just a shame I can't claim for the wasted time and bandwidth!
