Installing Pilot2ATC to work with MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

I've been experiencing the same issue and found the same work-around.  It would be good if ATC issued a 'did your hear my last transmission?' interrogative. (although they will issue the same instruction eg for a freq change if you fail to respond/act).

I have a PC with stuff in it

I've just started the trial. I've no clue about atc but I managed to use the mic for some of the commands including saying I was on final.  Absolutely loving this! It feels a world away from MSFS ATC. Thanks Dave.

I had an IFR ILS approach chosen for me in P2A but as I got closer I was given bearings for a more direct sort of standard leg and turn to final. However P2A did a great job of keeping me heading in the right direction.  About 300 feet from landing a huge ai realtime traffic plane came through me and I was told to go around.  Although it's fun to deal with the unexpected I'm wondering why I was even being directed in in the first place?

Looking forward to learning P2A more. Only had it a few hours.  I'm assuming it works fine with the wide plugin as I'll probably want to buy it for a laptop screen instead of tasking to it all the time.  Cheers.

Glad you're enjoying the trial.

P2A doesn't control the AI Traffic and unfortunately, some SIMs and Traffic engines don't yield right of way to the user aircraft as they should.  I'm always glad it's a SIM so I can walk away from midair collisions and near misses like that.

so had pilot2atc on xp11 and works good 🙂 now am simming on FS2020 too....

so far so good as all works except 2

1. since ingame atc is disabled how are you doing the pushback ? any good pushback mod for fs2020?

2. seems as well that since ingame atc is disabled the taxi blue arrows don`t show up in game....maybe am missing a setting ? How are you doing to taxi to runway or gate ?

1. I use https://flightsim.to/file/853/pushback-helper-v2-0 , and there's also https://flightsim.to/file/15033/toolbar-pushback

2. You can ask P2A ATC for taxi instructions, and it will show you the route on the map when you click on the taxi button

cheers for pushback think I got the second one but for taxi it is a problem since I fly in VR and I need to remove the headset to see the pilot2atc taxi

If you subscribe to navigraph you can see taxi charts in game

Hi Dave, I owe you two apologies: one for not knowing this and one for not taking care of my VFR / IFR setting.

In the meantime, I have performed a small experiment. If you export an IFR fight plan with SID and STAR as PLN file to FS2020, via the SAVE /LOAD button on the flight planning screen, all information included is available without loss of information. I have verified this by meticulously comparing the XML files. If you save this flight as a PLN file, its contents are nearly identical to the exported PLN file.

Having tried flight planning in Pilot2ATC and in FS2020, I must say that Pilot2ATC is much user-friendlier. Selecting a SID or a STAR in FS2020 by name is pretty obscure: you actually don’t know what you are selecting.

Han Schouten

Hi...How are you importing?  I cannot import as .pln only as a .vbf?

Disregard..figured out what I was doing wrong.

just set the "Export SID/STAR/APPR Waypoints" option to true on the FltPln tab of Config.

Dave see above post.  I cannot figure out how to eport the plan in to MSFS 20 as a .pln so that the sim follows the flight plan?  Thanks.

Although I figured out what I was doing wrong and the flight plan loaded correctly in MCDU including SID/STAR but when I got to the STAR the plane just started going directly to runway instead of following STAR.

Not sure what I am doing wrong?

Recheck that the STAR and its waypoints are actually in the aircraft GPS/FMS.

If not, check to be sure the "Export SID/STAR/Approach" option is checked at the bottom of the Export panel in P2A.

Dave

Yes I checked and the SID looks correct but the STAR is wrong.  FMC seems to add its own STAR/Approach points. It adds in an alternate waypoint and a few others before it recorrects with the proper STAR/Approach

I have just downloaded this program and I have absolutely no idea on what I am doing wrong but it's not working and I'm not exactly tec savvy...

I load it and I get lots of screen jumping and it says unable to connect to server with all of these numbers

I am able to then get to the actual main page and it wont let me add a flight plan in and when it connects, it does the same screen jumping with what appears to be a dos screen and it connects but I don't think it is actually connecting with MSFS...

I'm down to 7 days now and I would love to have an alternative to the stock ATC, I would love this to work but I won't be spending almost $60 on something that wont work during the trial

I have installed that Fscuip7 thing

please help haha I really want to try this pilot2ATC program

From your description, it sounds like you don't have enough resources to run the program.  You need at least 32GB of memory and 64GB is recommended if running with MSFS.

You should try running the program without MSFS running to see if there is something else going on.  If it's installed correctly, you should be able to create a flight plan.  If you can't then maybe your code files are corrupted. Reinstall the base program with Navigraph or NavDataPro data and try again.

Dear Dave,

Thanks for the great software, it really immerses deeper to the sim and train me as future pilot to real life communication

Just one question I couldn't find an answer: I purchased and installed P2A, I have Navigraph subscription, so updated AIRAC.

Succeed to connect it to MSFS. But I do not get taxi instructions via taxiway. Something like " taxi to RW07" - that's it. I tried few airports, including one from free source (UKHH), officially purchased in sin (LHBP) and unchanged default (KTPA). Opening them with "info" button I see first doesn't have TWYs, second and third have something, but I do not getting routed... Also LittleNavMap showing all taxiways are on place in this locations... I got only one idea from searching Inet - to use MakeRunways, but it's reading from MSFS, and I was hoping to have real life TWYs from Jeppesen and not faked ones from MSFS....

Please advise me where to read - what I'm doing wrong ??

Thanks again in advance

Igor

Unfortunately, AIRAC data from Navigraph or NavDataPro does not include taxiway data, so the only source is the SIM.  And since you are flying in the SIM, you are really better off using that so the signs match the instructions, etc.  Most airports are pretty close to the real names if you update the data using MakeRunways.
