Poll to assess MSFS

Featured Replies

Not sure if it would be a good idea to conduct a poll to assess the overall experience of MSFS users thus far. It may give us an indication into how widespread these issues are. I see more negative than positive comments, but wonder if negative experiences are more prevalent than the positive ones. I have seen some comments praising their positive experiences, which makes assessment of the game difficult.

It's a very good idea but I would like to suggest incorporating the question "are you a PC (desktop) pilot or real pilot? If a real pilot next question should be "operating light, medium or heavy equipment.

In this way a better assessment can be achieved and serve our community much better.

I think that it would be a good idea in a few days time. People need some time to get used to it. I have about 6 hours on it and I am continuously finding things out which improve it and also showing things that I didn't know existed. I have used fsx for years and I am finding some things are completely different. I am finding more positive things all the time in this sim.

There will always be more negative comments than positive comments. That's just the nature of the forums. Most folks who are happy don't bother to say so unless it's in response to something negative. Human nature I guess.

i think there is always what i call the forum effect, ppl whith issues are boudn to come in the forums for help, or whine whatever.

the happy fliers..most wont come to forums, why?

ofcourse exceptions  happen , like me, happy flier, and here i am lol

i also think its a bit early, give them a month or so..to fix the most needed things.(whatever ppl think those are haha)

This is a great distinction.  Real pilots like myself I would imagine see this as amazing.  None pilots seem to find issue with the aircraft not understanding real world operations and flight dynamics. Performance issues of the sim in general is a whole other issue.

Dillon,

You see, we need to keep an open mind here. Statement like " None pilots seem to find issue with the aircraft....and flight dynamics" it's a big stretch from the reality. Especially when the main complain from many people is that all the aircraft are way sensitive and flight dynamics are not quite correct and there is a big need to have addressed adjusting flight controls process.

As an example I'm a real heavy equipment pilot and as a hobby I have the same love towards PC flight simulators like many of us. Now of course I'm not used anymore to flying small airplanes but I have reservations to see this amazing. What I see is a eye candy software with big potential that needs lots of attention in respective to aircraft dynamics and controls adjustments.

Of course there is no perfect flight simulator not even level D sim is not 100% correct. This one needs a big re-evaluation on aircraft dynamics, it's not only visuals or first visuals. If the aircraft have flight characteristic, issues that lead to unrealistic performance  and only visuals are ok minds well we should call it scenery simulator.

I think it's best to wait until the showstopping issues are fixed. There are still many people having problems downloading the game and getting it to work properly.

Describing my experience with the installation process wouldn't get past the word filter, but I do have a lot of nice things to say about the simulator itself, even with the limitations imposed by my hardware.

you cannot expect default airplanes to have fantastic flying characteristics.

i still see ppl having very very unrealistic expectations.

The problem is that some of the aircraft are quite poor. Not all, but more than just one or two. The Airbus, for example, can climb fully loaded at 5000fpm on 3/4 throttle (?!?!?), and stop with reverse thrust in about 50 feet like it is catching the 3-wire on a carrier deck.  I mean, I expect and actually welcome simplified systems in default aircraft and don't expect spot-on flight models in those, but a default aircraft should be better than THAT.

I think overall there is a lot of promise here, the graphics rendering and open-world aspects are revolutionary, and they have certainly got the atmospherics of flight and aviation really right (and by that I don't mean the weather).  But how well this platform does is really going to depend on how diligently MS/Asobo fix the many bugs (vs just rolling out content but ignoring fixing the base game a la Train Sim World), as well as how effectively 3rd-party developers can bring better and more realistic aircraft.

You every will see much more negative comments, because dissatisfied user is much more motivated to write some comments, than satisfied user 😉

No poll. That's why we have this forum.

Thank you.
