I get around 14-27 fps in 4K High - Ultra settings

Featured Replies

Seems like my GPU is the bottleneck in my system. I have done a few tests, I have tested the Ultra preset and I get about 10-15 fps in busy cities, but then going back into my settings to dial a few settings down to high I average around 25fps. But wow, it looks absolutely incredible with the ultra preset in 4K!

What aircraft are you using? You can see my specs in my sig, my system's a step up from yours. With a light aircraft, I'm generally GPU limited and getting high 20s to low 40s, but with the 787, I'm CPU limited, and max out at about 28 FPS even on low settings. That surprised the heck out of me.

Remember to turn off Vsync  and vfr maps that gained me a fair chunk of FPS .

Remember the 4K tip that everyone's been sharing: Reset your "Render Scaling" from 100 down to 80. There will be no perceptible difference in your 4K resolution but you'll pick up about 10 extra FPS.

Pause your plane in a big city - say Moscow or New York. Reduce your render scaling to 90. To make it clean and sharp put your AA to TAA (recommended when lowering RS). You will get at least a +10 fps jump on that without any noticeable change in graphics.

 Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb

At 4K resolution any GPU would be the bottleneck. No GPU can run FS properly in 4K at the moment.

I'm also running at 4k.  i7-8700k w/ 1080Ti (11GB VRAM), 16GB system ram.  I am still tweaking, but using high, and then changing the scaling to 80% as mentioned above.  I'm getting just over 40 fps outside of cities, probably losing around 10 - 25 fps in cities.  Even though not on ultra, I still think it looks fantastic.  Because I'm testing, I have v-sync off, but will turn it on for normal use.  For this sim, on my TV, without headtracking, I think 20 - 30 fps is perfectly acceptable.

Every single logical core (all 12) is being used, and CPU util looks nicely balanced.  Avg is around 50%.  GPU is at a constant 99-100%, and I keep thinking "do I smell something burning?".

I've been ignoring taking my system to 32GB for ages, and will be doing so soon.

I have a Reverb G2 on order, and am wondering what "compromises" will be required to get this puppy running acceptably in VR.  I sold my Rift S recently, and had been exclusively VR for ages.  Going back to pancake, and having to bind view controls to my joystick hat is taking me back...  But she sure is pretty.

Sorry guys, I forgot to update my sig to reflect my current system specs. But I'm running stock i9-10900k with no overclock, and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 (8GB VRAM) with 64GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 RAM and Windows 10 Pro 2004 with a 4K TV.

Haven't tried this yet but will give this a go and report back. Thanks!

I found switching to an airliner, the 787 in particular, completely changes the dynamics by shifting the bottleneck to the CPU. It's been quite challenging to 'tune' my settings because the bottlenecks move. I guess this means MS did a good job of balancing workload.

Did a few more testing, in 1440p over NYC I get a constant 30-35fps with the ultra preset. Amazing and absolutely beautiful! Also noticed that the highest ever it consumed on my system memory was a whopping 22GB!

But in 4k I get around 17fps, and when I go to external camera it jumps down to 10-12fps. Any reason why the external camera lowers your frame?

Nice!

I've had 27GB usage at JFK @1440P using the drone to look around, CPU was still very low though
