August 25, 20205 yr It can take more than 10 minutes to load up the game for me, some times i get a a file is missing error and i have to reboot and start again, Just wondering if its me or is it the big program loading up. Even after selecting a flight it takes 5 minutes before it take me to the fly now page. Waiting for a new joystick coming but making do with a old sidewider which is hard to use on the commands i have put in, just the basics Had a great flight over landszarote at unset last night looking over the volcanos
August 25, 20205 yr It takes me an average of about 8 minutes from the time I click the icon to the time I'm sitting in the cockpit. This is surprising considering the Beta took 4 to 6 minutes. I'm wondering if there are things that have to time out before loading continues. If so, maybe it can be fixed. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! August 25, 20205 yr Author Thank you for your reply, Pleased that i am not the only one and it looks more like a program issue. Hopefully it can be fixed. Raining outside, So looks like a good flying day.
August 25, 20205 yr hm, form desktop click to start flying in the sim, about 5 min, and this on a normal hd. if you want real quick you need it on ssd.
August 25, 20205 yr It takes almost 2 minutes from the time I click the icon until the splash screens begin, and overall about 9 minutes until the menu is available. This is on an HDD, but it still feels somewhat excessive considering that only the menu elements and the hangar are being loaded.
August 25, 20205 yr On start up the sim probably checks almost every single folder and file for syntax, punctuation and content errors and this will take up a lot of the time. I know this because I left just one comma out of a tweaked cfg file and when I restarted the sim it crashed after two minutes and kept doing so each time. Took me ages to work out what mistake I had made, but sure enough the sim loaded fine when I corrected the missing punctuation. If there's an error in a file then the client should be correcting or downloading it again. Crashing without even letting one know which file has the error is very unhelpful and bound to create lots of frustration. I hope they will focus on reworking the client first. There are still people who can't complete the game's installation.
August 25, 20205 yr I've said this elsewhere, but a lot of the pain of this could be blunted with some simple design changes: 1. No app should ever show NOTHING after you launch it. My experience is faster than what the rest here are reporting, but it still takes roughly 30 seconds before you even see the logos. That causes all sort of confusion for new users for no valid reason. I suggest a small snippet of code that just displays the image of the 172 flying in the lush mountain range that we get later. Then at least you know something is happening. 2. We have to watch four not-so-short logos while nothing happens. Move these (see below) 3. We then have to see a screen that asks us to Press Any Key to Continue. Why? This is a waste. After you hit a key you have to wait again for more loading. Just skip this unnecessary step. No one, after the first load, ever wants to see the animation that runs here. If the game just wen int the next segment then we could launch the sim and go get a cup of coffee knowing that the main menu will be there when we get back. In fact, THIS is where the four logos might go. At least something is progressing while this happens. Perception is reality and making these minor changes would change perception where it counts. Of course there should always be effort to speed up load times, but X-Plane and P3D both also have long load times. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Originally we had a screen where we had to agree to the NDA and it came up quickly. 8 minutes ago, Agrajag said: 2. We have to watch four not-so-short logos while nothing happens. The good news is, the logos used to take about a minute. Last time I timed them it was 30 seconds. We're making progress! 😄 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! August 25, 20205 yr One must wonder what will happen after a ton of addons have been added AKA FSX make a brew time, and addons fund the sim. Raymond Fry.
August 25, 20205 yr Side note but don't forget if you're running the Steam version you can save a few seconds by adding this line to the launch options: -FastLaunch This will skip the intro videos. It's something, at least.
August 25, 20205 yr Author I bought mind direct from MS Via Top cask back and saved £10 , I did post the link, But don't think anyone used it
August 25, 20205 yr It's weird how the loading times differ! I've got a Ryzen 7 2700, 32 gigs of RAM, and one NVMe drive and it takes almost 10 minutes from clicking the icon to being ready to fly. There's a part of me that wants to just keep the program running all the time but even exiting from a flight to the main menu, making selections, and getting back to being ready to fly takes ~5 minutes. @Gomoto: do you have the install split between your two SSDs? August 25, 20205 yr It's 4.5 to 5 minutes from start to flying for me (not including the time I spend choosing where to fly from etc).
