but wind is completely different than data which was in sim menu ?

That happens everywhere.

I wonder if its their weather servers being overloaded? Because I had accurate wind in Nova Scotia yesterday morning, but none for the rest of the day.

And right now I have wind above 03 in the Dominican Republic (though I have no idea if it is accurate)

No, according to what people are telling me this is an issue since the very first (Tech) Alpha and has been reported many, many times. So no, it can't be related to the server load nor has it ever been acknowledged by MS/Asobo.

Sorry for linking to a post of mine, but that's what I think about it...

Because their weather uses a prediction system. METAR is only like once every hour, so they use meteoblue to try to predict what the weather is between METAR reports.

The Pre-release Q&A they said they might implement a METAR weather system along with the live stuff.

I'm getting high than 03 wind over The Dominican Republic right now

Yeah that’s not the issue. That would suggest a minor difference in wind and maybe a very slight 0.01 inHg change in the altimeter. I’m talking a 30.01 reporting airport being 29.73 in the sim, and an airport reporting winds of 270@13G21 having winds 085@3 in the sim. That would also suggest that on the hour when the METAR is released, the sim should perfectly match it as it was reported at that exact time. That’s never the case either.

So here is what I've tried to fix the 3kt broken wind so far:

  • Turn off multiplayer
  • Switch between live weather and custom weather, set a higher wind, and then switch back
  • Use a VPN to appear like I'm in England (thus theoretically using Europe's weather servers)
  • Reboot my G1000
  • Something else I've since forgotten... (EDIT - run in administrator mode!)

Nothing I've tried has ever worked... I have observed that automated weather properly reports winds, as does the world map, and even water waves seem to reflect wind conditions, but instruments and actual flight conditions do not unless I manually set winds in a custom weather profile.

I give up!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself...! But a little bit of humor is still okay, isn't it?! 😄

Well for me I would rather have the weather we have in game right now vs, not having any weather and waiting 4-5 months for it to be perfect. I think from all the screenshots , rainbows , storms and hurricanes. I have seen nothing comes close to what we have right now in any other sim. Some people might be loosing sight about what a Day 10 release should look like. Even when you put all the addons into other sims running perfect  you still can't get the same type of looks. I mean really AI aircraft showing as real world live traffic plus weather as it is , just amazing in a default 10 day released game. It's only going to get better and better as they work on these issues. This whole 'shouldn't have been released' attitude is funny , to me. I mean if I had a truck that I knew was broken before I bought it. I wouldn't then go out and buy the truck drive it around only to yell out the window ," OMG this truck is broken it should have been fixed before I bought it. ."

That's neither what a thing called "flight simulator" is all about, nor is it the only thing they promised us for the release. And I absolutely acknowledge that it'll be work in progress for many years to come.

Of course they are aware of it, but they should acknowledge it and tell us until when we can expect a fix--I don't mind waiting for another month or two, but the lack of communication is what's concerning people the most IMO.

Exactly. Just a few short words on the “known issues” list would be sufficient:

”Unreliable wind injection in many areas when Live Weather is active”

A simple acknowledgment that they are at least aware of the problem would greatly reduce the level of angst and complaints on the official forums and elsewhere. Not doing so is poor PR.

Changing servers won’t help. The bug is 100 percent correlated with the geographic location of the aircraft in the simulated world.

The upper weather winds being provided by MeteoBlue contain 3 elements for any given location: wind direction, wind velocity, and air temperature. The temperature part of the data is being injected when in flight. I have tested this extensively on flights in the US in the TBM, at altitudes between FL200 and FL310.

I am enroute right now from Hickory, NC to New Orleans at FL260, and just passed over Atlanta. The OAT in the TBM shows -16C, and that is exactly what the official upper wind forecast from aviationweather.gov shows for this location, at this time and altitude. Upper air temperature data with Live Weather active is almost always in perfect correspondence with official forecasts.

This leads me to think that the wind direction and velocity data is present too. But, for whatever reason, the sim is not using it in the US and many other locations.

UPDATE: Thing I've noticed with real world winds:

When I zoom in on a windsock from afar, it looks elongated and seems to match the reported winds. As soon as I get close to it (maybe within 0.25 nm), it reverts to 3 kts. I wonder if proximity to the winds causes them to die off?

Perfect weather here in the UK - have been some storms this afternoon in the southern UK and I took off and saw them in all their splendour. AWESOME!!!

Loving this sim. First flight sim since F119 Stealth Fighter too long ago to think about. Been heavily into driving sims that last few years but this new Microsoft Simulator is absolutely stunning. So involving and takes you away from normal life for stunning flights round the world. Even managed to nail my first landing a few days ago. Must say that the awesome skies are distracting me from careful flying but that is the joy of it. Well done Microsoft for putting you money behind this.

Exactly like this. 🤦‍♂️

You do realise that eye candy is not what a simulator is all about, don't you? And their selling point has been ever since that this is going to be a flight simulator that can be enjoyed by those I-fly-a-study-level-plane-on-VATSIM-and-follow-each-procedure-from-the-top people as well as by more casual I-start-my-flights-mid-air-do-some-stunts-and-enjoy-the-landscape guys. And both groups are equally entitled and welcome to play MSFS.

However, in its current state only one group is served to a certain extend. With the live weather (needed for flying on VATSIM, IVAO and PilotEdge) being broken and the default planes nowhere near the level they "promised" (sorry for using this word yet again)--just look at their partner episode when they visited Daher and compare it to what kind of TBM we got. And I wasn't even expecting study level.

Maybe you understand a bit better now. Having said that, it's of course just my personal opinion and nothing more.

I'll just leave this here , maybe go try telling them they are wasting there time creating a study level aircraft for MSFS 2020 and importing all their aircraft over to MSFS 2020 . Yeah go do that.. Because all PMDG have been know for is there " eye candy " and not for true simmers, right ?

Because see I have already bought the Sim and atm flying over the Congo @ 7k on my rtw trip , enjoying the hell out of it 🙂 Eye candy and all , waiting on the study level to hit
