No point flying to Barra...

Featured Replies

I thought I'd enjoy a nice flight in the 172 over the Scottish Islands from Benbeculla down to Barra, which as those from the UK may know has it's runways marked out on the beach. http://www.hial.co.uk/barra-airport/

However... I tuned in the NDB and arrived overhead only to find the tide was in and so I couldn't land !

Not a complaint, the real airport suffers from exactly the same problem and is only usable at low tide, as I don't expect the tides are simulated that particular airport will remain out of use.

I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else was planning a visit to this famous airport.

Absolutely beautiful flying to be had in this sim up in Scotland  over the highlands and islands.

If they could add low and high tides to the sim that would be amazing.

Plus reef breaks, different types of swell conditions based on distant winds, offshore vs. onshore winds effecting how the waves curl, and then add a surfboard rack to the Icon A5!!!!

We have 10 years, might make it at some point. 😁

I was actually wondering about this, thanks for the update!

At EGEU, Stoney Lane, the canal has flooded over the runway. Mind you, we've had some rain lately. 😄

What about the fish in the water, just like the realistically depicted Rhinos hiding invisibly under the water in Africa. Gee, I would like that LOL

If I can find it (failed in my first attempt), I want to see how the Grüner See in Austria's Styria region is represented. 1-2m deep in winter, and a country park, 12m (twelve) deep with everything submerged under meltwater from May to July, with benched, paths flowers and even trees submerged. Will it be a small 'pond' or a large lake, assuming it doesn't change by season (yet, at least)?

Talking of Scotland, I did fly my A5 to Ailsa Craig but didn't see anyone collecting granite for the world's curling stones!

Jorg N. even wanted butterflies at one point. He's all in to the twin earth platform concept.

Yea .... flutterbys are great.  I also want some aircraft behind clouds, snakes hiding under bushes in really long grass and just where are the crocodiles???  Bruce (from ACES) was absolutely correct ...this sim is truly incomplete LOL

@jon b Looks like you can go back there now. As the developer says, it's concrete sand but at least it's solid ground.😉

I spent three days flying to a salt pan near one of the world's oldest deserts, only to find it under water. 🤔
