MSFS scenery vs. my own real-life photos

Featured Replies

It is quite remarkable that such a video is even possible! As data collection continues to expand and technology improve, I wonder how long it will be until we have a nearly 1:1 representation of our planet.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Thanks for sharing! I'm loving every minute of the new sim, will only improve as time goes by! 😄

People will still complain....^^

About the flight model! 😄

Real complaining:

In screenshot #3 + #5 you can see that flawed combination with texture masks. Those are roads and when you move the drone right on top of them you can see that there actually is a concrete texture in place, but it should be visible much earlier.

Instead it's putting satellite imagery and a greenish texture fitting with the surrounding scenery dominantly on top. ASOBO - your turn.

Wow i really enjoyed seeing these comparison shots. Even me as a XP11 fan is amazed by this. I dont yet have the sim but these pics have made me more eager to get it. I have to wait some more months though. Hope you can post more like these!

We'll do the beta testing in the meantime. 😉

It's really fun, but it's also nice to have a more matured sim then. 😄

Haha! The only gripe I have is that after all the vids and pics Ive seen of the sim - the trees look like broccoli. Is that just me?

Hah, yah sometimes, but honestly anything is better than the old FSX and Xplane trees which from certain overhead angles looked like broken split up toothpicks.

Well know you know why so many bugs fell through beta testing - the beta testers were busy admiring the scenery!!

This video has some good comparisons:

I agree totally, it really kills immersion seeing the cardboard-like cross-toothpick trees. I guess given a choice I'll take the Asobo broccoli 😃

Yeah.. well.. sure the sim looks very close to the real world photos.. but thats just eye candy. If i wanted eye candy i could just look out my window.. there is plenty of eye candy out there.  mmm candy.

Idon't know if that's what you mean, but they get "blurry" the further away you are, but I didn't really felt hungry for broccolis I have to say. 😄

There are some things that you have to get used to when first flying. Like buildings stand out a little too much for my taste. But once you got used to that, the overall scenery just blows you away. Especially with VFR or IFR on approach / takeoff.

Happy with MSFS 🙂
