September 4, 20205 yr They do work. What is not working is the wind. 😉 All joking aside, I noticed that they only work when on a certain radius around them. When I overfly an airfield to look at the windsock and find out which runway to use, they do not function properly until you get dangerously low and close to them.
September 4, 20205 yr The windsocks do not animate beyond 500 meters. At least with low winds it's easier to see the direction from a distance if the wind sock is straight out. 🙂 It is possible to edit the animation to get it to show beyond 500 (I have it set at 1500 in my installation). Look here if you want to experiment with fixing it: \Official\OneStore\asobo-simobjects-landmarks\SimObjects\Landmarks Hook Larry Hookins Oh! September 4, 20205 yr What I noticed is that sometimes after touchdown you have to apply much more rudder. Seems a bit weird. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

WIndsocks are imporant in lieu of ATIS or AWOL. Although outside of Europe one can simply assume 225/3 currently. 😉
September 4, 20205 yr I finally tried the Courchevel landing challenge yesterday and the windsock was stuttering all over the place. Seems like a bug.
September 4, 20205 yr Yeah. Disappointingly not working well at all. Thanks for the location of the sim.cfg file for the windsock, Hook. So, would you think that DistanceToNotAnimate=500 could be changed to, say, 1700 or the like? I'll give it a try... I tried a 1700 value and I could see a accurate windsock in the traffic pattern at LOWI. I don't know if there's any ill effects in changing this, but it did seem to work. Thanks, again Hook. Note, that I had to set the weather manually. Most of the time I can't see the wind sock from pattern altitude anyway. 😄 I'd be interested to find out what other people think is a good value. I don't think it should harm anything and I'm surprised Asobo made the value so low. Maybe they just overlooked it. Thanks for the report. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
