MSFS 2020 specs

Featured Replies

I would like to know if my desktop specs are good enough for MSFS 2020 please. My CPU is Inter [email protected] and my video card is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 730. I have 16GB RAM

When I load the simulator I get a notice saying that "Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements as a result you may experience errors during the game"

The simulator crashes to desktop during loading.

Thanks

Stelios

gt730 is very below specs, you need  a better gpu, the i7 is good enuf.

Yes, you definitely need a better GPU!

Also, if your processor supports it I would turn on "Turbo Boost " in BIOS and overclock it to about 4.2ghz (if it is stable at that speed).

That GPU is woefully underpowered, especially if you have the DDR3 version. The rest of your system is quite good though, and will support a newer low-end GPU very well.

If you are looking for a new GPU that doesn't cost much, the GTX 1650 Super is a good choice. Should allow you to play at medium-high settings at 1080p with 30+ FPS.

I'm not sure if the GPU is causing the crashes, though if you have the 1GB DDR3 version it could be the culprit. Sadly even the loading screen uses the GPU quite a lot.

More GPU and more RAM

For a 1080p monitor, 16 GB will do the job.. 🙂

The specs show that as a 4 GB VRAM card... is that not a bit on the skinny side?  Cost is good though..

A 1070 would be better, if you can find one 😉

ok fine more monitors too 🙂

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

I sincerely wish folks would stop with this "more ram equals better performance" foolishness.

It is somewhat, but the simulator doesn't seem to use much more than that at medium-high settings. The GTX 1070 would be a more solid choice indeed, but one would have to look at used cards. Knowing the original poster's budget and whether they would be comfortable in buying second-hand would be useful at this point.

Agreed... Here is one more option that would split the difference.. GTX 1660 Super.

6GB VRAM 🙂

Are you playing at a resolution higher than 1080p?

My specs are in my signature and I am using 16 GB of RAM.  I run on 1080p and high settings.  In cities, including Seattle, I don't think MSFS uses more than 10 GB of RAM for me, and with GA planes, I can get 35 to 40 FPS in cities.  I haven't tried New York though so maybe that will be a test for me.  I do exit all other applications when I play MSFS though, so that I free up my RAM.
