September 9, 20205 yr I have timed the start up. After opening Steam and clicking on the MSFS ‘icon’, it takes exactly 2:53 to the screen where you can start selecting your location etc. That’s with hitting any key the moment the option ‘To Press any key’ comes up. Running with Windows on a NVME drive and the sim running of a dedicated SSD. I do have a few add-on folders in the Community folder which might also slow startup down I presume. September 9, 20205 yr Hello, Using Steam version ! At the beginning, on my computer, it took 6'20", to fly from scratch. Now, , It takes 2'50" from scratch (after W10 startup) to load, press a key, load an airport, hit "Fly now" and be able to take off. Computer : I9 3.7/Ghz / 32Go Ram, 5120x1440 screen, Rtx 2060 super Fs : most details set to high. I did remove the startup animations (trick found on this forum) for a total of 8" gain! I also updated my Nvidia drivers I moved Fs data from a hard drive to a SSD. Internet : up to 1gb/" (optic fiber link) (download : 980 mb/s max and upload 580 mb/s max) 6'20" to 2'50" : it's a good improvement.I agree : a fast welcome screen could be nice, and we should not have to press a key to load the interface ! Of course, if I leave FS and start it again, it's a bit faster.
September 10, 20205 yr I guess its a good thing Im half asleep when I start FS...often...its part of my morning wake up routine...with coffee. It doesnt seem that long to me but it is convoluted. "Press Any Key" seems ridiculous and there should be something when you first start the sim because it makes me not sure I actually did anything. Really if they shortened and condensed the logos to be like Forza 4 and just held that nice shot of San fran until it loaded the 'set up your flight' screen, i'd be fine with that. and itd be awesome if you could exit the game quicker imo. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. September 10, 20205 yr In my case it takes about 4:15 from clicking on the MSFS Logo to being in the cockpit and ready to go - this is on a SATA SSD and a 70 mb/s internet connection. Somewhat slower that P3D (also on a SATA SSD) which takes about 2:58 for an equivalent startup. Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

There are a basket full of issues to address but the basic engine is spectacular for what it does. Photorealism adds much more than I expected. If nothing was changed in MSFS I can definitely still see using it regularly, especially when FSCaptain arrives and they're working on it. September 10, 20205 yr I think they intentionally put the "Press Any Key" screen in there just to give us something to do (Key spamming) while waiting a ridiculously long time for this game to load! Like a Mini Game to keep us occupied! Edited September 10, 20205 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp

September 10, 20205 yr 1:00 to reach "Press Any Key" 1:08 to reach flight selection For a total of 3:24 PRESS ANY KEY seems to me to be analogous to PRESS ANY BUTTON on a console game. Gamers are used to it but it's just odd in a sim. Perhaps Asobo were thinking ahead to that version when they implemented it? Not that it resolves the question of why it exists in the first place. I'd love to hear their thinking on that one. I can't say it bothers me as much as some others here, but it certainly seems pointless. If the time to get flying was reduced the longer it took to 'press any key' you could argue something is happening behind the scenes while the screen is being displayed, but since it doesn't...🤔 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)
