Yes, Demos are always an adventure, Mark....! If I'm not mistaken, you've still some (> 0) time left, here, in the Demo,...did you ever manage to takeoff with this A340...🙂....?

[Late adder comment: I just happened to catch your "other" post in the FSX/SE Forum...where you seem to have successfully managed to start this (FBW) Airbus with "Cntrl+E", and take off for "somewhere"...🙂...oh well...all in the name of "fun"...]

Not only have I taken off, that was the easy bit with everything up and running, but have flown around, and also got my rudder pedals working with the nosewheel tiller (SHIFT-Q toggle and the tiller pops up in a 2d window when I move the rudder pedals off centre - now the 340 turns on a relatively large dime as it should).

This will give the purists a blue fit: I even hot -dogged the 340-300 in for a landing at an airport somewhere in northern Africa, in the interests of just messing about (erm.. flight testing). I'm at FL250 - there's an airport about 40 miles in front of me.. I'm glad these airliners have speedbrakes , and flaps, and undercarriage..  BTW brake temperatures appear to be modelled and I didn't set the mains on fire...

The 90 minute demo time resets every time you load up the sim... I now need to do some more landings to get my own feel for the strange flare (or not) behaviour which has been reported. My landing SEEMED OK to me, flying this office chair at home..

How did you like it? I found the widebodies better and more stable than my current Wilco+CLS and Wilco+TR merges... and they have a 16:9 widescreen 2D panel!😁

I'm now awaiting a good promo just to buy it.

Get ready for the burning pitchforks and lynch mob readying a stake and bonfire in the town centre, Luis - the demo had worked it's charm on me compared to the freeware offerings I've been flying around for some time. I LIKE what they have to offer! I can only hope they do update it to a full 1.0 LOL when things calm down . Then we'd have to deal with such things as a maintenance page in the FMC etc. IMHO it works now. I can hand fly the birds easily, yet of course they feel different to my other favourite widebody - Sky Sim MD-11. The 'buses must be doing so auto trimming in the background, I think.

Like that tri-holer, I've ended up on the bottom of the curve in the Airbus with a stable, fast rate of descent to the floor where even full throttle application might not recover.

I cannot comment on the details of using the FMC properly and I do have to get used to operating the autopilot properly - I dial in 250 knots and autothrottle is active but she doesn't reduce thrust like other (more default?) autothrottles which I'm used to (I don't have many complex or study level airliners). I'm guessing I should move the throttles to the detent and then she'll respond. I think I need a tutorial for the tutorial! 😄 Sometimes it's a struggle to get the vertical speed and altitude set - my incompetence.

Eye candy - to me it's a no brainer. Not sure on the engine sounds - are they true to life?

Installation of the product was very smooth and easy. I had a slight hiccup configuring the nosewheel steering and tiller but I worked it out. The pre-flight manager for pax, cargo and fuel calcs is impressive too.

I'm looking to buy this too.

Could you elucidate on your post?

Are you taking jets, perhaps  out of the HFG collection, & adapting them to MSFS, or someone else is doing that & you are testing them, or I am well wide of the mark?

No sin. I bought the A340. I think it's pretty good to be honest.

I suspect a lot of the people who slam BBS, like those who slam Carenado, are merely piling on and haven't actually bought or tried the things. Like Carenado, they're not without some faults as a developer, but the products are actually not bad for what they are.

Thanks for the quick tour of the plane/sim, Mark...! You're tempting me....I might get it....(Alan, above, recommends  too)...I do have the Wilco/FeelThere one, and have not touched it in ages, but, this is such an interesting plane to explore in our SIM...!

YES! You are. I'm not sure what the HFG collection is. I'm flattered that you thought that the scenery in the screenshot was MSFS.. 🍻

Ahem. Blackbox Simulation products are available to download for FREE as a time-limited DEMO (only BBS liveries) so one can try before buying. I've got the FSX:SE version. No nefarious intent on my part.  Besides, the new sim doesn't run on Win7 so I'd need a new rig regardless.

@P_7878 That's why the demo mode is rather useful - you can compare the products for free to see if you prefer the Wilco one. I only had freeware to compare BBS to.🍻

I wish I could give you my BBS A340 license Mark.  Like I said I never flew it (other to hit Y on loading and slew it up to altitude to I could pan around it checking a paint a did for a friend years ago).

I have no regrets buying it, as I knew going in I really wouldn't fly it, and I think I may have even gotten it on sale (its been way too many years to recall accurately).

I only hope Graham uses every cent made from MSFS sales towards the hiring of a few more programmers to help poor Antony who's been coding the Airbus for years....and can't get seem to get the code to .9.

We'll see if the huge cash inflow from a ripe new market who actually believes there is $29 worth of value in the BIrddog makes an impact to his critical shortage of coding muscle. 😉

Thank you for the kind words, Steve! We'd have to chat to Capt. Sparrow aboard the Black Pearl and resign from AVSIM for that to even be discussed let alone if it were even technically possible. YARR! 🍻 In other words not happening! Just to make it perfectly clear to anyone thinking of getting their knickers in a twist over our banter!

I might send BBS an email after I purchase the product. Currently I'm still thinking of buying it.... :wacko:

The email would of course request that my 30-odd quid (after euro conversion) be put towards coding progress.... of the Airbuses in the older sims with older SDKs of known quantity (apparently) rather than improving the brand new Bird Dog.
