GeForce driver 456.55 Released

Featured Replies

Nvidia has released a new version of their GeForce driver, 456.55, which is claiming to improve performance in MFS 2020.

Just a FYI. I'm about to try it but doubt it will make much of a difference.

I couldn't find any mentions to MSFS in the 456.55 release notes. Where did you see it improves performance?

Same, searched but found nothing.

Within the almighty GeForce Experience after selecting the Driver button. There a blurb about what's new with the new driver. It mentioned something about improved performance. I could have misread, certainly.

I didn't notice anything bad, and I'm not sure about anything good. I had a very smooth night flight from KADS to San Marcus Regional in the Mooney. It was beautiful, and I didn't notice a single slowdown. This all means jack, of course.

The full moon's light on the surface and scattered cloud layers was pretty sweet.

Hello,

In French, after installation of this new driver :

I got a message from Geforce experience to optimize Fs 2020, I agreed, by clicking the button,

but restored some parameters once in Fs 2020.

I think it simply gives you some basic settings based on your Pc. You are free to move up or down what you think is important !

Thanks, just asking to confirm if there were specific changes to MSFS. It's certainly smoother here. Dev mode showed less frame drops in Harsfield-Jackson compared to previous driver. Good one!

1080ti here, by the way.

(I can't seem to find a way to edit posts, apologies for the bump)

There is nothing mentioned about MSFS even in the official changelog.

There was however in the previous driver, and what @ctdlg showed was already present since the previous driver

For clarification, the new driver enhances Nvidia's Freestyle (video recording), not the sim itself 😉

For further clarification, Freestyle is their ReShade-like suite, not their video record function.

Here's to hoping they fixed the Freestyle issue where you lose all your settings and have to clear a hidden temp folder to make Freestyle work again.

Do you recommend any easy tutorial for using Freestyle with MSFS?
I should give it a try...!
