How to backup MSFS2020 settings

Featured Replies

Before I download the update, how do I backup my settings before they are all reset? I am using Steam.

Settings should save to the cloud

They don't seem to be according to much of the online community

Nothing got reset for me, but it is a good idea to temporarily remove mods from your Community folder before you update.

They are, you should be able to nuke the entire installation, reinstall and get going instantly once you fire up the sim. With all the issues I had, reinstalls and all the BS I had to deal with when troubleshooting, it was a key to keep my sanity.

Same here, 3 uninstalls / reinstalls and all settings "inherited" from the cloud.

Does that include custom controller settings?

Affirm.

Even my controller sensitivities, which were made unavailable due to a bug in 1.8.3.0 were back to live as I installed 1.9.3.0

Anyone know how to delete the settings in the cloud ? Guess it´s saved on the user profile somewhere

I don't think you can. I had a ton of issues with this during alpha and Asobo wasn't helpful at all. Any change to the sim config and clicking save is instantly reflecting this on the cloud. You'd have to reset to default in the UI to start fresh.

I dont think cloud sync saves saved flights.  If you try to copy the settings from the settings location along with saved flights, windows wont let you at least for the windows store version.

Settings are still a huge issue.

There is an ongoing issue right now with gaming services with the windows app version and it breaking things, in the process i lost all settings.  Of course i had tried to back up what i thought were the settings (and saved flights) before but they got lost and copying the old files over doesnt work due to windows apps restrictions.

Cloud setting pull down was only partially successful (i think saved my quadrant settings but not the yoke) and none of the saved flights get saved (probably best to start saving at least those to a different path).

Is there a way to save the settings file to my computer and then reinstall manually? I don't fully trust cloud!
