"Press Any Key" - Ready to Fly ???

Featured Replies

As most of the community did not understand and did not want  "Press Any Key" function, devs will be removing it hopefully in the next patch. It is also not clear for me; what is the function of "Ready to Fly" button just before thestat. I think this can also be removed.

What do you all think about this, for a structural positive criticism point, to improve the sim ?

I'd say the function was a shortcut to skip the animation of the plane entering the runway.  Unlike the press any key at start, which just interrupts loading, I don't mind this one.

both are pointless to me. I just want to get to the main menu when starting the sim then to the gate/apron when i click the first 'fly' button 🙂

Same for me.

I would rather they at least keep that one. Its not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. There are bigger issues to fix. Especially to fix what they have broken in the first set of patches!!!

seriously cannot imagine why they are wasting time on removing the press any key and people are suggesting removing the fly button..  these are seriously first world problems and there are a lot more things that could be done by even a junior programmer than waste time on saving a few milliseconds in the load, or a couple of mouse clicks.

Fixing main problems is essencial but small improvements can be done with very small effort ofthe team and is not effecting the man roadmap. Nobody is requesting them to skip the main bugs and losetime on small ones These are just brainstorming to have a better sim. We really want to understand the neccessity of "Ready to Fly" button which is unneccessary for me.

I’d prefer to keep this one; not knowing how long a given flight might take to load, I sometimes go and quickly do something else while it’s loading. The ‘ready to fly’ click saves me from blocking the runway if it happens to load really quickly.

it got the most votes on the wishlist so i'd say its a problem to a lot of us, nobody wants to be clicking pointless buttons when we could be flying instead!!

Not important,  Just left click and you are in the sim.

Not exactly the biggest problem, neither of them.

For me it's just an unnecessary key press before going to fly. I think it's mostly catered for the console players in mind...

For me it takes around one minute for the application to boot after pressing the icon, one more minute for the initial loading and the splash logos to appear, and after pressing a key during the cutscene, around 5 minutes for the menu to load. I like to get up and so something else meanwhile, and not have to wait for this screen to appear before doing so. For the same reason I prefer to keep the cinematics on as scotchegg mentioned above.

It's an extremely easy thing to do, and either removing it completely or moving it after the menu has loaded (which is how most games implement this) is what an intern should be doing before they move onto more complex tasks. Besides the developers themselves said in the Q&A that they were not aware this screen still existed because it's disabled in their developer build, and it was probably a leftover from a kiosk mode for the Global Preview and X019 event builds.

The fly button doesn’t bother me because when you click it you go straight into the plane.

If you are starting in the air the fly button gives you a chance to get your hands on the controller and ready to take control as soon as the plane starts.

The "Ready To Fly" button can be removed by disabling the pre-flight cinematics in the options.

Unfortunately not - 'skip pre-flight cinematics' only changes it from external camera to inside the cockpit, still having to select the ready to fly button
