G36 Improvement Project (v0.6, 31-10)

Featured Replies

Hi Robert.

Down loaded your Beechcraft today. Although it may be pointless, several years ago I owned a A36 C-GUZM. which had analogue instruments. Flying your aircraft today I make the following comments. The aircraft feels as if is too light. The roll and elevator have too much effect on the aircraft and causes the A/C to react violently.. In my A/C one only needed a small amount of throttle to make the A/C move on the tarmac not 75% as this one. conversely the acceleration on take off is too slow. My flap control (throttle quadrant) when moved up jumps down to 1st stage from up. Although I did not have the Garmin 1000 my aircraft my friend had one and it took up nearly half the instrument panel. much easier to see than this one. The G36 in P3Dv4 and 5 feels right. I am not criticizing because I could not do what you have done, only just giving feedback.

Simulating an aftermarket add-on turbo, and dealing with cumbersome fuel flow indications, etc in the G1000 detracts from the Bonanza that is offered by Textron today (and modeled in the sim).

This has become my opinion of late, too. I’m flying the straight G36 mod more than the turbo normalized one. It just feels more “right” not in flight dynamics, but in that most G36s out there would be naturally aspirated.

I really enjoy, and appreciate Robert’s version, but I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t bring the G36 closer to reality, rather than an aftermarket modification that although realistic is not the norm.

I loved his 172 FDE file in FSX/P3D, I guess I was hoping for something like that with the G36.

Hi @g-ciao are you talking about the turbo-mod or the normally aspirated improvement project?

If the normally aspirated improvement project we're always interested to hear from real pilots as to the feel of our changes. What mod version are you running?

I've been flying the G36 and G58, almost exclusively in MSFS2020.  I am not flying the turbo Bonanza, but naturally aspirated.  Just wow - thank you for putting the time into this!  This is a ton of fun, way more realistic (just a simmer, no flying IRL) - so thank you!

Why is there the occasional attempt to mix Robert Young in this thread that belongs to FrettFS, they both have expressed keeping their mods separate.  Load either one as you wish.

A hotfix is now live that fixes some autopilot offsets that you may have encountered during ILS approaches and use of VS mode:

Also the Turbo-Patch was taken down due to the disagreement and miscommunication between me and Robert that unfortunately went public in this thread. We are working on another solution.

It is in a separate thread, because I could not edit my first post... Did I miss something?

Is there a reason why i cant manually start the engine with this mod? I can using ctrl+E but not manually followong the checklists. I admit i havent fully tested and troubleshot it, but i wondered if anybody would see the same. Thank you and great work.

Your problem is most likely related to not properly following the engine start procedure. Make sure you use the fuel pump (in High mode) up until the fuel flow peaks (around 18 gph). Then turn off the fuel pump, advance throttle to ~15% and you should see a successful start. In very harsh (cold) conditions, some extra fuel pumping and throttle may be required. Don't overdo it because you may flood the engine, which is also a potential cause of an engine that won't start. Note the 'Flooded engine' checklist is only to be used when you suspect the engine is flooded due to throttle/fuel pump overuse. Otherwise skip it.

Very happy with this mod and how it's continually improving, it's made the G36 my go to GA in MFS. Are there any plans to add spark plug fouling?

It was indeed my fault. Didnt advance the throttle enough 🙂 what an amazing bird, took it on a Mont Saint Michel adventure in the north of France. Too bad about the G1000, amazing piece of kit, but would love a steam gauge version from Asobo or anybody else. I love dead reckoning navigation and the g1000 feels like cheating 😄
