November 14, 20205 yr New to FS2020 Have done some GA flights and someone in a forum suggested the use of a controller for cameras, etc., not having used one before was wondering if anyone can recommend a good one preferably USB. Have never used them before. November 14, 20205 yr I use an Xbox One wired controller. Being a Microsoft product its plug and play with Windows and MSFS. it really works wonders for the drone camera. All the buttons and directional pads come pre-mapped in the sim. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?
November 14, 20205 yr I do the same. I go through and remove all the non-camera related mapping on my XBox One controller though. I also mapped the A Button to toggle drone mod. It makes an amazing camera control without effecting anything else in sim. James
November 14, 20205 yr Yes an Xbox one controller is the way to go, minimal fuss to set up and works great. Have never used them before. Thank you Hi Joaquin, I just use a couple of keys which pretty much takes care of all my camera needs: For an unobstructed outside view (for enjoying the scenery for example), simply 1st hit the Insert key, then hit Numpad 5 to center view, then use the W key to slide forward, S for backwards, and use the Numpad's 4/8/6/2 keys to pan up/down/sideway. For using ground crew to pushback hit your End key, now your reverse view hat switch to look backwards, if you have a hat switch to exploit. You can also use the middle mouse button to pan and zoom wherever. For various cockpit views simply hit Ctrl-Alt + the number key you want to assign the view to, and you activate your assignment by hit Alt+number. For example, I have hard left, copilot view forward, copilot view right side, copilot view hard right, programmed to numbers 1,2,3,4,5 (top row on your keyboard, not numpad numbers). Each plane saves whatever you assign for that plane--very simple and useful. What I miss if a good flyby routine, and a tower view. It's wired, which i like because no batteries or charging, and only 16.99USD. RegeMoudal Wired controller.

I use to use a wired Xbox360 controller for PC gaming. When one of the bumpers starting getting wonky (being many years old), I switched to a wired Xbox One controller. Neither needed any setup for Windows, they just worked. James

I've found usually the build quality is much better. My old xbox 360 controller lived many years on the xbox 360 before moving over to the PC where it lived quite a few more. My Xbox one wired controller is a solid piece. I use the wired controllers so there's not much advantage money wise using a aftermarket one. Wireless may be different as far as money is concerned. And if you have PS controllers, I know some people have used them with PC but I have no experience with them myself. Edited November 15, 20205 yr by Phantoms James

It auto-installed in Win 10, and in MSFS there were two profiles for it ready to go, one called default controller, and the other called xbox-... or something like that. Using it just as a drone camera controller for now. Glad I didn't pay for a big dollar one, especially for just using for views. Edited November 20, 20205 yr by desbean
