LatinVFR KMIA VRAM

Featured Replies

Hi...

Just booted up LatinVFR KMIA with the QW787 and was shocked to see it using 9GB of VRAM just sitting at the gate!

Is this normal? Is there anyway I can reduce this? Why is this airport particularly so bad? I'm almost scared to do anything in case I get a CTD.

Thanks

Correct , try use 2048 texture resolution instead

Surely, this is ludicrous and practically makes the scenery unsuable?

Why design an airport that the majority of users are going to struggle with?

@BWBriscoe This scenery is perfectly usable to many of us.  What kind of graphics card do you have?  If your system can't handle it, you can go to the LVFR forum and request a non PBR version of the scenery.  PS: The 787 is also a high VRAM airplane compared to many others.  So you are trying to use a high VRAM airplane at a high vram airport.

I just did a KMCO-KMIA flight. After I shutdown and called GSX, P3D did a complete scenery load. It turned off EA. When I re-enabled it, I got an out of VRAM message and P3D closed.

I have a 2080 Ti 11Gb. Grrr...

KMIA comes with photoreal scenery around, maybe disabling that part can help?

I really do hate this...buy great scenery, then disable most of it to get it to run properly. I mean, this was the case with FS9 and now, 11 years later we still can't make it work properly...sigh

+1.  I have had this issue with their KBWI Baltimore-Washington.

I find their sceneries, especially KMIA and LEMD to be the absolute worst in terms of VRAM optimization of all the many sceneries I own.

It’s pretty obvious their sceneries aren’t optimized for VRAM consumption at all. On higher resolution displays you easily run into issues there.

No other developer has this issue and it’s not like LatinVFR’s sceneries look any better than the competition’s. This just tells me their sceneries need an overhaul to be useful in P5D. LEMD in particular is a disaster and there’s no way I’m going to reduce texture size to 1024 on my high rez screen. That will make even the cockpit look awful.

The fact that LatinVFR has refused to address this and hasn’t optimized their sceneries made sure I’m not going to buy any of their products again.

I totally get you about the optimization part on their scenery.  However I'm pretty sure that turning down texture resolution only affects things outside the cockpit, not inside.

Happy to concede that point. In any case it looks awful.

@flycln2048 is the texture that people recommend doing.  I haven't heard 1024.  I run 4096 personally.  But toggling between 4096 and 2048 is very hard to notice.  try it.  The only places where you can really see the difference is small detailing like gate numbering etc.  And this is coming from somebody running in 4k

That`s been the problem with flight sim for years, everybody want`s to have setting`s maxed out not mater what PC hardware they have.

LatinVFR is the only  airport I've experienced this so far in p3dv5. Unusable for me. Running a RTX2080 8GB
