November 15, 20205 yr I am, and not sure if it was a couple of minor obscure suggestions (like assigning PhysX to my 2070 Super via NCP) or something shot into the sim from MS at update time. Also I noticed the grid-like edges on clouds look much better. Road traffic is ultra smooth now and previously had some choppiness to it. The only unexplained issue for me can be found in this thread: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/589230-stutterspauses-caused-by-the-area/?do=findComment&comment=4404707 I've submitted to zendesk twice on this and I hope they can troubleshoot it, the 'it' being scenarios when you have lots of CPU/GPU/VRAM headroom yet FPS starts tanking. There are certain areas where this always happens, and it does not equate to areas of maximum scenery complexity necessarily at all. November 15, 20205 yr Its odd how different people have different experiences. I have been thinking it is looking worse since the last update. The terrain textures for me are popping in worse than ever, there are stutters when I bank the airplane, the photogrammetry is messy. Who knows lol.

The last few updates have made some changes where rethinking you settings options is in order. I found I had to reset joystick settings which after the last update is far better than before. LOD settings need to be reduced to stop micro-stutters especially when flying with glass cockpits. Other settings I could turn up a bit more. When you find that sweet spot the sim runs better than ever. Even on it's worst day the performance in FS2020 for the visuals we get is better than we've ever seen in FS9, FSX, P3D, and XPlane. November 15, 20205 yr I have had awful trouble with stutters every 3-4 seconds, and regardless of settings, I could not reduce them let along be rid of them. I tried a couple of the suggested remedies here in this forum, but finally the sim decided it would not load any more! Repairing the sim failed to make any difference, so in desperation I uninstalled and reinstalled the some (thankfully I did not need to download all the data again!). I am now stutter-free, and the sim is a smooth as silk on the recommended settings for my system. Cheers, Brian L Robinson Flight Simmer since 1983 - loving the brilliant Quality Wings 787 and all PMDG models!!
November 15, 20205 yr Performance seems about the same to me, which has been good. The one thing that I've noticed is that the autopilot, while not perfect, at least doesn't try to kill you at the least opportune time. And that wasn't supposed to be fixed for a few more patches. I find that MSFS is now usable for both IFR and VFR flights. And Bijan's Fall Season mod has also helped with creating additional immersion. Next stop VR. I'm still waiting patiently for my HP Reverb G2.

I still enjoy the sim, and I am just waiting for the quirks to be worked out. Yeah, maybe I will play with my settings. Currently sit at 30-36 FPS... depending and on mostly high settings with a few ultras mixed in there.
November 15, 20205 yr I went from Ultra to High-End for my A320 flights to major cities, and it seems to stutter less so far. Also, High-End looks almost just as good anyway IMO. Edited November 15, 20205 yr by NightOfDreams
November 15, 20205 yr I thought mine was worse but turns out the game had turned off photogrammetry and Bing maps.

November 15, 20205 yr The grass is greener, and my glass is half full. I can adjust to settings that choke out my 10700k running HT at 5Ghz (not to mention my soon to be retired gtx 1070), or tune them in for an absolute delight. It's FSX all over again, but DANG, MSFS is SO MUCH BETTER looking EVERYWHERE. Just wish my FSX add-on AC were available for MSFS, I miss those rides! November 15, 20205 yr Author On a trip to Europe sometime around 2000 we stayed in Lausanne Switzerland w/ our twin daughters who were track stars in high school in Nor California. The hotel we stayed in had a bulletin board and on it was an announcement that an Olympic Track and Field event was happening that evening unbeknownst to us previously, and Marion Jones was going to be there, my daughters' idol at that time in their lives. So we went, it was incredible, and at the end, as it was July 4, they put on the most amazing fireworks show in honor of the US Olympic Team who faired well there. You can see in the screenshot below the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise where we saw the event: Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Hope you all had time to visit the Olympic Museum there. We were there in 2017; my wife would have been super overjoyed to see Marion Jones compete. Closest we got was years ago we saw a teen-aged Micheal Phelps and Aaron Peirsol compete at a pre-Olympic event in Santa Clara, CA. Really looking forward to the Los Angeles games. Its always been a finicky beast. I had hopes that 2020 would iron out some of these kinks... I still have hope that this project will get much better! And I enjoy it for what it is in the meantime.
