But what if going from 4.5 to 5.1?

That's different. PMDG has different installers for each P3D version.

You would install V5.1 first, re-run OBRX, PMDG, etc. installers and eventually remove 4.5 at some point.

I'm still on the 4.5HF3 due to it's amazing stability. May we say with a certain degree of assurance that after the HF1, the latest V5.X is the stable platform and it's ok to start moving stuff into it?

I'm impressed! I report that I uninstalled completely P3D v5.1 through the Control Panel uninstaller, then I uninstalled all ORBX Global products + Chaseplane and ASP3D. I then installed the latest P3D v5.1 which includes the hotfix, launched it and everything was there like I just left it. All scenery installed, all add-ons installed, all settings and joystick assignments unchanged. I then re-installed what I mentioned that I uninstalled and everything looks perfect! I wasn't even asked to re-activate all add-on.xml products. It is the first time that do a full P3D reinstall without before having deleted all traces of P3D from my computer, and that was much less scary actually too straight forward! Thank you Simbol again for reassuring me to go this way.

Do you use RTSS? If yes, don't run it to see...

Richard.

I did a short night flight from RJNS to RJAA in the PMDG 737 last night and it was great. P3dv5 never seems to get old for me. Bring on the Thanksgiving sales!

Cheers, Pete

I don't think this is correct--I installed each PMDG acft using a single installer that gives options to install to either v4, v5, or both as part of one installation process.

What I meant was, you need to re-run the installer so it puts the required files for each platform. In a way they have a procedure to install their products for V4 and V5.

Hello friends.

Today I have decided to update prepa3d from version 5.0 to 5.1 HF1. I updated the Client, Content and Scenery according to the LM indications.

However, I have the problem that I cannot start any flight with EA activated, because the simulator closes without any warning.

With EA off, no problem, everything works fine.

If someone experienced this problem, they would be very grateful for help in this regard according to their experience.

Thanks.

I don't have this problem but:
1/Did you delete the shader folder and the Prepare3D.cfg?
2/Are you running the latest version of W10?
3/If Nvidia card, the latest version?

Richard.
