No problems from 5.0 to 5.1 so I don't expect any for the HF. Simply uninstall all components without deactivating the client during uninstall. Then delete  p3d.cfg, ,... be sure you have a backup of controls.xml. Installation of P3Dv5.1 HF1 into the same folder where the former version was located. Delete shader cache. Run P3D. Close it. Synchronize ORBX ( I'm using ORBX libraries for al titles). Done. There may be some add-ons which need a special treatment.

Does this also backup all keboard assignments?  I use FSUIPC for controls but always lose my keyboard shortcuts....or more importantly the items I delete as they cause issues.

After running and rebuilding my Prepar3D.cfg file and shaders I found that some payware aircraft are not visible in the 'Vehicles" drop down menu. Do I have to reinstall the aircraft or is this P3D's way of telling me that it is not compatible now?

fsuipc usually installs outside the sim and should not be a problem but back it up anyway.  Always safe than sorry

FYI -- the newest Active Sky has been posted with HF1 compatibility.

I just, for the first time ever, uninstalled Client, Content and Scenery. I usually just update the client and content. After I reinstalled them, and deleted the p3d.cfg and shaders folder, I took a deep breath. All went flawlessly! Big sigh of relief! Thanks to all in these forums for the great advice.

Cheers, Pete

I've just finished my first flight with my a2a C172 from KFHR to KTIW (via PAE-KBFI). ORBX TE WA, all ORBX airports in this area and DD Seattle airports are active as well as AIG AIM, ORBX NA GA traffic and Henriks world ships ai. P3D settings were high to ultra. EA on! Only one word: PERFECT. No shine through issues, EA with ASP3 works fantastic and looks awesome (@ 4500 ft). VRAM went up to 8.8 GB around KBFI/KSEA and went down again to 7.8 when reaching ORBX KTIW.  My best flight sim experience (including MSFS) since a very very long time.

So curious if the grid like clouds were fixed with EA

No need to install REX Sky Force if I TURN ON EA correct?

I still can't wrap my brain around it on the rationale for doing it (pure laziness in my book).

Some add-ons require near complete redesign and are subject to many potential new issues with using the add-on folder specification.  In our case it took 2 years of near full time development to bring add-on folder specification compliance, and we are still chasing issues after thousands of man hours to develop and support this which brings no new functionality to the software, only new potential problems.  It was the right thing to do, and the benefit is worth it, so we would have done the same thing over, but really, it was an incredible challenge and investment in time and resources.  We were very fortunate to be able to do it, and not all developers are able to.

Hi, mate! How are you?
By the way, what exactly is wrong with the vector data in P3D5?
I thought, going from 4.5 to 5.0 (where I am now), the vector data is so good you don't even need ORBX Vector (ORBX developers wrote so themselves before they bothered to publish Vector for P3D5).
I have checked it on my home area (southern Poland) and, first time in the flightsim history, it is depicted very well.

Grid issues have been reduced overall, but not completely eliminated.  We've reduced it significantly further with ASP3D (releasing soon) by using some synthesis/cloud type selection logic to limit/remove the scenes which really appear gridded, but it can still happen in some cases especially with camera directly above or below aircraft.  I think moving forward this will be further improved both in stock P3D as well as with add-ons
