Recommended Posts

Jörg Neumann stated in a recent interview about 2024, that it will have live ship traffic.
Are you working with them? Just curious.

Kind Regards,
André

Two sailboats passing (ignore the opposing winds) off of Miami. Notice anything on the Red one's spinnaker?

Never seen that running v3.0. What is also weird is glee into MPPO yesterday and on both sides of the Panama Canal, not a ship in sight. I have all packages active as well. Odd…

I was flying the UltraLight and there were a few ships around, along with sailboats were many leisure craft. Flying this past weekend around MYNN I even saw  a couple kayaks, though they may have been part of mamudesign marinas (I'm not sure).

As for the pic above I was pretty sure it was from my GAIST 3 install because of the sail. I only have North America with Carribean routes installed on it right now. Here's a closer shot of that sail.

MSF2024 FAQ says that it has "Worldwide live ship traffic", is it involved with this project?, or any hint in the MSF2024 characteristics, I guess the live traffic would be generic, and maybe compatible with this, or this can take advantage of the data provider and to have that solved.

thinking of trying this one but just wondering have ship wakes been fully implemented and is it superior to the payware (seafront) global shipping?

Wakes are implemented. Can't comment on superiority, but can say that it is a remarkable undertaking and achievement that keeps getting better.

It's free so you have nothing to loose other than 10 minutes getting it up and running.

thanks shall give it a try then!

in terms of the install and the uninstall process assume its adding/removing folders from the community folder?

also can it be run with the seafront pay ware?

Yes and yes

But if I load all of the areas together along with my other addons, I reach the msfs object limit and the sim crashes.

It may be fine to use them all if you don't have many other addons (I just have W Europe and N America normally).

One thing I have noticed is that GAIST seems to increase my loading times quite a bit, but that's not really either surprising or a problem for me.

This is where Addon-Linker becomes very handy, you only activate the area(s) you need and that's it. Your object limit will be safe - at least as far as ships are concerned.

Maybe it's just me, but GAIST doesn't add enough ships to be realistic. With only GAIST running, I get maybe one ship.  If I layer on the  Seafront Simulations add-ons for both the sim-generated AI ships, and their own ships, I get several ships.

Another problem with the oceans in general, is they are just way too calm. Real world oceans are not as calm and smooth as the glass we have in the sim. It's not immersive at all.
