I also thought that i am CPU limited but MSFS is saying the opposite: "GPU limited". Thats why i am wondering. What speed are you running your cpu at? Overclocked? 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

If you see a bump in your FPS after OC then you know you are CPU limited. Reaching 5GHz should be doable. Edited December 21, 20205 yr by RobJC 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I guess I don't know how you can be GPU limited if your GPU is running at 20-40%? I suspect that your CPU is not able to push your GPU any harder, so your GPU is idling. If this is correct, when you OC your CPU your FPS should jump up and your GPU utilization should also jump up. Shoot for 5 GHz. If your GPU utilization jumps to 40-60% (or more) then you know a top of the line CPU will unlock the rest of your GPU's capabilities. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Take into account at 1080P and 1440P you get little or no boost in FPS in flight sims on the new 3000 and 6000 series GPU`s. Raymond Fry.

What surprises me is you have simmers buy GPU`s that cost more than than the older PC they are running, this is why i upgraded my MB and CPU and case plus fans and storage this year, my 7700K and ASUS Formula MB was 3 years old just over a £1000 when i built it . next year i will look at the GPU, and get this there are already talk of the 4000 series may be announced next year. And Samsung making the smaller die for Nvidia next GPU. Edited December 23, 20205 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.

December 24, 20205 yr Good luck with the new card, now just fly the f sim and enjpy. I have 3080 very satisfied with it, but would have bought 3090 because of the vram, just did not have the dollars
December 24, 20205 yr Wont be building just yet. Need a monitor and case. case will probably be the Phanteks Evolv X. No idea about the monitor yet.

Just look at P3D forums for complaints regarding CTD's after it went DX12 and users ran out of VRAM! I absolutely agree, I recently bought a LG 4k monitor for a great price on Black Friday, although I've only got a 1070 GPU (which is fine for 1440p) I'm obviously waiting to be able to purchase a next Gen GPU. After trying to see how my 1070's 8 GB Vram copes with 4k, 8GB is a no go, so that rules out the 3070 for now, the 10GB Vram on the 3080 seems just a bit too low, so IMO the only options are the 16GB Big Navi GPU's, or a 3090 (which I cannot afford nor do I think it's good value going forward). Possible future options also could be the 3070TI (depending what the Vram is) and the 3080TI. December 29, 20205 yr Hanging on for 3080Ti which really sounds ideal. FE or EVGA, if n when. Right now even the 2070 Super lets me run at Ultra 100/200/200 except sometimes need to dial back volumetric clouds/reflections/contact shadows to High and then all's well. But I don't have the requirement for 'more FPS'. All that is ever created and rendered, is 30, and that makes a big difference in what is demanded from the hardware. https://www.tomsguide.com/news/nvidia-rtx-3080-ti-just-leaked-heres-the-proof Edited December 29, 20205 yr by Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. December 29, 20205 yr I'm wondering how much the Ti will cost. In theory, somewhere between 3080 and 3090, but thats quite a bit of latitude.
