December 16, 20205 yr Hi all- I'm getting ready to make the jump down under. I'd like to ask for any suggestions you may have. I also want to plan for an ORBX Christmas sale which I hope will happen at some point. Thanks in advance, Mark ps. Does the XP750GTN database cover Australia? December 16, 20205 yr ORBX AU v2 also YBBN Brisbane, YMML, Melbourne, YSCB Canberra, YBRM Broome, YBUD Bunderberg, YBCS Cairns, YHBA Hervey Bay, YBAS Alice Springs and their freeware, AI airline AU coverage. MSFS YPPH Perth and YPDN Darwin. FlyTampa YSSY Sydney. AUScene YPAD Adelaide v2. FTX OzX Freeware aiports and Robert Fluke (Flukey) freeware airports. These should get you around Australia, might want to croos the ditch and get ORBX NZ North and South Island - only a 3 hour flight from Sydney or Melbourne. YBCG

Newtie, The quoted above, I believe is the ONLY add-on payware or freeware scenery available in OZ. The only reservation I would add is that ORBX YBBN is a frame killer and is very poor quality. Please note further that I do not see any chance for it being fixed either. Some may disagree, but with my computer specs I cannot get better than 10-10 FPS whilst on ground or overhead the city of Brisbane. The taxiways, hardstands etc are absolutely abominable and I am unable to follow taxi lines because they are so washed out. The same has applied for FSX and all versions of P3D that I have owned. The rest of the cited add-ons though, are brilliant. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.
December 16, 20205 yr Author Thanks guys for the suggestions and warnings. Looks to be a safe bet getting most of the ORBX line including NZ which didn't occur to me.
December 16, 20205 yr newtie, Sadly those really are the ONLY options for us Aussies I think.. Furthermore, I can't really see anything different, at least in the short term, for MSFS. If you think that is fairly poor, spare a thought for XPlaners who only have ORBX YBRM for Australia as Payware, and absolutely nothing else on the horizon. However there is an option for 68GB of Forkboy Ortho for Australia. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). December 17, 20205 yr I wouldn’t bother with orbx Brisbane as an updated new version is in the pipeline. I would look at Orbxs NZ products though, particularly the North & South Islands and Milford Sound & Queenstown airports, great scenery. flightbeam’s Wellington is a high quality airport and challenging location Ian S

Regards Tony Newtie I suggest you ignore all of the above relative to Orbyx Brisbane - I only have a mid range PC and see nothing like what he describes Admitted - Orbyx Brisbane is a little old being - one of the first major airports done by them - but listen carefully If you go to Orbyx forum - you will see that today the Head of development has announced that a completely New full version - new Runways - Taxiways etc are done - and it will be released in Jan A new charge will be made for the upgrade - but maybe you can buy the old one in the usual sale and then get the upgrade and save a couple of Bucks Another thought occurs - if you haven't already got Orbyx Australia 2 - and a couple of the airport traffic freebies on Central - you should grab them as well - and you will find that most of the other Aussie airports are all there for you landing practice after some Out Back practice. May I suggest that you take an "All Aussie flight" - starting at my Gold Coast airport ( with GC scenery addon of course) - and keeping Australia on the left for 12,000 Kms - then tackle the Vast inland in Australia 2. December 17, 20205 yr Author Thanks JT- Excellent advice on the upcoming upgrade. I have zero Australia airports and scenery so this along with others has been great advice. I'm assuming that all or most of these work in the latest version of V5. I know that's stated on the sales page, but I don't know if that means the newest version.
December 17, 20205 yr jaytee73, Please note, that I did say "some may disagree" Those statements came from a long line of experience through FSX, FSX se, P3D v 2,3,4,5. I have always had this problem, and this applies through three computer upgrades. For those who do not have this problem, I say Bewdy mate. It is NOT my experience though. 1 hour ago, jaytee73 said: If you go to Orbyx forum - you will see that today the Head of development has announced that a completely New full version - new Runways - Taxiways etc are done - and it will be released in Jan This is indeed good news and news that I was totally unaware of. I will be a first day buyer installing with great hope. Just as an aside, as far as I know, YBBN is the only airport in Australia with a complete new full version ie new runways, taxiways ... I wonder why if there was nothing wrong with it? I also hope that performance is going to be somewhat better than what I am getting at the moment. I live in hope. Hi Newtie - thanks for the response After I sent the missive I noticed that one Orbyx Aussie airport was missed in the earlier list That is Gold Coast Airport in my backyard which is coupled with one of Orbyx's famous Cityscapes One assumes you have Central Installed and when you go there - you will have seen your V5 recognized When you bring up the "store" Central will list all Orbyx products currently listed for your Sim - and the Oceania section lists all you need for Australia and New Zealand in the way of Antipodean simming You note that quite a few of the Australian and PNG airports are Orbyx freeware

December 17, 20205 yr Just to add here there are also the MegaScenery Photoreal series covering a number of the Eastern states of Aust. And there is Gibson sceneries for photoreal "enroute scenery" which is rather unique in that it allows an underlaying scenery to show through in a sort of circular area around the aircraft. Meaning you get both your Orbx and Photoreal at the same time, when your high looking out the cockpit you'll see photoreal and when you're low it's Orbx you'll see. There are a number of reasonably nice non-orbx airports, I have Aerosoft's YAYE (Ayers Rock AP), there is also an OZx one of the same, nice for a flight around the rock and the Olgas. There are a bunch of OZx bush airports and there is a script on the Orbx forum to adjust them to better fit into Orbx's Aust v2. Orbx New Zealand North and South Islands are pretty good, plus there are both Orbx and very nice non-Orbx airports like GodZone and others. Gisborne: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/584496-gisborne-new-zealand-in-my-agtruck/ Miford Sound: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/570040-flying-in-new-zealand-and-lost-an-engine Gibson photoreal and Orbx showing through under the aircraft. The Orbx layer showing through the photoreal just out the lower left of the cockpit window. Gibson Northern Territory. Ayers Rock, Aerosoft YAYE, you can even see the old abandoned original landing strip next to the rock where the Aerosoft scenry is showing through the Gibson photoreal MegaScenery Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too.
