December 19, 20205 yr Hello all, Captain Sim announced. A sale starting tomorrow, with 20$ off of all base packs of their aircraft. I still believe this is too steep for me and I'm unlikely to go for it, but that said, I'm curious what the state of their 763 is? How functional is it these days, and, importantly, what's performance like? Especially VRAM usage? Any insight is appreciated! December 19, 20205 yr Thanks for the heads up. Was waiting for this sale and curious about this too Benjamin. However the 767 even at $79 (after the $20) is still prohibitive for me, just because I'm trying to upgrade the old PC. I do want to get the 757 Freighter expansion. I put the forum post for peeps to see. Captains, Goodbye 2020 sale (all* Base Packs are $20 off) starts at 2020Z 20DEC 2020. Runs for 20 hours only. See you at https://www.captainsim.com/store/ * all with regular price over $20. Dylan Charles "The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits."
December 19, 20205 yr As mush as I would like a 767 I'm going to pass. Even $20 off is too high. Only if they have a $10 or $20 sale like in the past would I even consider picking up another CS product. I have the 757 and don't even use it due to VC performance, lighting and other bugs they refuse to address. Give it another year and the price will drop even more as users move over to MSFS2020. Still no freighter version which is widely used these days. December 19, 20205 yr Ahhhh. Performance is close to the PMDG 737, flies nice, fluid and stable (not like MSFS). With the new P3D version of software you will be happy but can't have sliders all the way to the right. VRAM about 5. Now in reference to the autopilot and mcp panel you will find issues (especially if you a real pilot), unfortunately FMS needs lots of work, systems wise needs also work. The guy whos answering emails seems to be ok but I'm afraid that he's overwhelmed with fixing certain bugs. So the bottom line is if you're not a pilot and don't know the systems you will be OK, you will not get so much frustrated. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
December 19, 20205 yr I bought the 767. Not terrible but way over priced for what it is. It ended up like the Aerosoft A330 and QW 787 for me. They stay in the hangar. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
December 20, 20205 yr I have 757 and the 1.6~1.7 update is very nice, now I can fly RNAV APCH use VNAV and no annoying beep for manual ILS landing, 2 major problem for normal flight: flight performace (not computer perfromence) are off quite a lot according to BPS/FPPM/QRH on my hand, and VNAV descend is mostly broken as most mid-range add-ons do. Since most good fix on 1.7 came after 767 1.0 (and on 7571.6,after 767 1.0, they are still broken), I wonder how many are already in 767. When I seek for some overnight flight on weekend, sometimes I wonder if there would be a 767, as 757 is just a little short on range.... but for more than $70? not quite yet..... Thanks for commenting specifically about VRAM, as that is my primary concern. At a VRAM usage of about 5Gb, I will pass. I do not have a new graphics card in sight and 5Gb is well within the realm of having to disable all my scenery in order to keep things flyable, so... no go. December 20, 20205 yr I have no problems with Vram and the CS 767. It's not using any more Vram than PMDG 737 or any other addon!
December 20, 20205 yr I just completed an KATL-MMAA flight with the CS B767. Flawless for me, but I'm using P3Dv4. I know this doesn't help you, but wanted to post because while I'm sure the airplane is not perfect, I'm not experiencing the problems others unfortunately are, and I'm a real pilot. Most (not everybody) complain about it not having flawless VNAV which they say PMDG aircrafts do. This comparison leads to a price comparison, which I see as a concern for most. Yet not everyone sees pricing the same and not all developers need to set price based on one developer. Okay... so, I suppose I should be asking what settings people are using as well. So let me ask this instead: what's your VRAM with the 757, if you happen to have it? Since I have the 757 I could look to see what VRAM usage with it is, and then extrapolate to the 767. December 20, 20205 yr Commercial Member Are you referring to p3Dv4, or v5? In v4 both the 757 and 767 are fine on VRAM, I also have an 8GB 1070. I'm flying the 752 right now in v4, using around 3.GB of VRAM. Cheers! Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

Though now that we are on the topic, just for comparative purposes, how much do the 757 and 767 each use?
