Hopefully we will have DLSS along with DX12 next summer. I will enjoy 1440p with my new RTX 3090 (arriving today!) for a long time before I decide to change my monitor with a 4K. Could not agree more about 4k, that's why I upgraded from 1080 to 1440, perfect! 21 minutes ago, Ianrivaldosmith said: Pretty much yeah. I did read an article back in September where people with lower end GPU's were getting smoother performance by pushing the settings higher on the GPU side. It does actually work, because it stops you (most of the time) becoming CPU limited. Luckily I have a 3090 so I can REALLY push the GPU with a higher render scale and all ultra settings. I found that when I backed off the render scale, and gave the GPU less to do, I became cpu limited and that is when the micro stuttering started. Agree, never tried P3d, but have used other Microsoft products since their beginnings, and X-Plane for many years. What always irked me was the "plausible" environment I was flying in. Everything was close, but not quite close enough, and I felt it really detracted from the experience as a whole. Well I just bought Msfs2020 this weekend, and the irks from the past have disappeared. Wow, this Sim looks stunning, and everything so far looks "As real as it gets". Do certain aspects of the Sim need to be worked on, sure, but for me the accurate visuals are what I've always been longing for, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Steve on Gamer's Nexus covers this subject when he reviews the various new cards at different resolutions. It seems counter-intuitive, but the more powerful GPU's (like the recent batch of Nvidia and AMD cards) actually have lower frame rates at lower resolutions, such as 1080P. This is due to the complex interaction with the CPU. I don't fully understand why pushing up resolution and graphical complexity takes the load more off the CPU, but it seems to. It is a complex interaction with the CPU, and even games like Cyberpunk show similar results. It's just as we expect, trial and error to find the sweet spot. Adding load to the GPU lowers the number of frames it is able to render. Therefore, the CPU doesn’t need to “feed” it as much data. It’s a bit simplistic, but essentially what happens. Just GSync, Ultra settings and resolution scale up until you don't see GPU limited or is there something else? Thanks Well, the problem is that you're running at 1440p as you said when you denounced the need for 4k 😁 Many would say a 3090 for 1440p is overkill (RTX aside). Removing my tongue from my cheek, I would certainly put all sliders over to the right as a minimum. You've literally nothing to lose. Might as well splash that cash and get a 4k monitor. Go on... once you've taken a bite, you'll never go back 😎 (And if you were to do that, I would absolutely advocate an HDR1000 monitor, incidentally. Very pricey, though. Proper HDR in this game is just wonderful!) Edited January 4, 20215 yr by spacedyemeerkat

I have everything on ultra, and my res is 3840x1600 normally. I upped the render scaling to 120 which forces SSAA on, so it also looks better. So, I'm running at 8.8 million pixels I believe. Slightly more than 4k. It completely smoothed it out for me, because like I say, I am completely GPU limited at between 45-60 fps. Depending if I am in a dense area or not.
