DC-3 in development

Featured Replies

That's their recent P3D one which they've been working on getting into MSFS for a while, apparently that was held up by changes to flight modeling in MSFS according to their recent comments. Hopefully it won't take too long to get past that. And even more hopefully, we might get a discount if we previously bought it for P3D, because at 72 Euros it wasn't a cheap add-on to buy.

Wow, 72€ is quite a lot. I hope that they consider lowering the price for MSFS since that will allow more people to purchase this one. At least we won't have too many autopilot issues with this one I guess, although there's still that Sperry thing.

Flightsim rig:
CPU: AMD 5900x  | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL
Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906
Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

Keep in mind that 72 Euros was for the DC-3 and the C-47 packages as a bundle, but it was still a bit on the steep side. If you bought the DC-3 or the C-47 on their own, it was 47 Euros for the DC-3, or 43 Euros for the C-47, but on the plus side, you did get a floatplane C-47 in there as well, so hopefully this will mean there'll actually be an interesting floatplane in MSFS.

With a bit of luck it won't be as glitchy as the P3D one was on release. I've got a lot of time for Aeroplane Heaven, but they made a right cock up of the release of that package for P3D and took ages to patch it as well, so they need to do better than that next time around.

Presumably the P3D release will have covered part of the development costs for this version, so I would think they could bang it out for less in its MSFS form, because I suspect people aren't going to be leaping at it for 70 Sovs. You only have to look at how many people have said they'd buy that recently-released Pilot's Boeing 314 Clipper if it wasn't for the fact that it was so expensive, but they're not touching it at that price.

A challenge for this product in FSX P3D has been the excellent freeware C47 from Manfred Jhan... which won't make it to MSFS as we all know

Yup. That's true, and the very comprehensive Just Flight DC-3 with many add-ons and expansions was also giving it a run for its money too. The Aeroplane Heaven version is a better 3D model though, there is no denying that.

This one is so much fun to fly but darn it was a very buggy release for P3D. I hope this one is better.

Absolutely. No flight sim should be without a DC-3, it's literally the most iconic aeroplane in the world.

Excellent news! a classic propliner low and slow for enjoying the beautiful scenery, not to mention in the challenging Andes.

I say Carl (cavaricooper - DC-3 connoisseur extraordinaire) should get it first and tell us what he thinks! 😀

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Looks pretty good to me, but seems it takes still some time to come.

But: Good things will come to those who can wait.. 😎

This is good timing, since I've developed the Vintage Pro line of quadrants, just for these older planes.

Wow, 72 Euros. Is it Study level?

It looks nice! But for that price I would like to see a planned features list!

It would also be great to see if a version of the sextant could be made for this, though I have my doubts since AH didn't develop it.
