February 4, 20215 yr You may not want to try this at home. Since we have been semi-sequestered due to the virus and the barber shops are closed I purchased an electric hair clipper from Amazon and thought my wife could cut my hair because I began looking like a Hippie. Ever since I got out of the Marine Corps I always wore my hair clipped short except for one time when my daughters were in high school they talked me into letting it grow out. But that's a story for another time. Whenever I went to the barber shop I always told him/her, "All the way around with a number 2 blade." So they clip all the way around with a number 2 blade and then switched to a number one blade to trim the sideburns and the back of my neck. Yesterday Betty gave me a hair cut. She went all the way around with the number 2 blade and then I told her to trim the sideburns and neck with the number one blade. Well, she went wild with the number 1 blade especially on my forehead. She went back so far it looked like I had pattern baldness on the front of my scalp. The damage was done so I told her to go all the way around with the number blade. Now I look like I'm a skinhead back in boot camp again. Maybe by the time I need a haircut again the barber shops will be open. If not I'll just have her go all the way around with the number one blade again. She can't make any mistakes that way. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

February 4, 20215 yr Yep, every two weeks we got to take it all off. Like you, I bought a hair clippers 6-7 months ago. I used to go to the barber and tell him/her to get out the number one and take it all off. When the clippers arrived I told my wife to take it all off. I won't repeat what she said. I wish I was bald so I wouldn't have to mess with hair. But with the number 1 blade I can go longer between haircuts. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. February 5, 20215 yr There is actually a "zero" blade. Gives you the Yul Brenner look. My clippers didn't come with one but they're just cheapies. Maybe the better ones have it. It'll give you an extra 4-5 days before you have to take it all off again. February 5, 20215 yr My wife's been cutting my hair ever since I retired. Just like Noel describes...#2 on the top, #1 on the sides. It took her 2-3 times to perfect the transition zones, and once a couple years ago she got started over the top with the wrong (#1) blade on, which resulted in a few weeks sporting that boot camp chic. I mentioned in my first post that when my daughters were in high school they talked me into letting my hair grow out. When it started to cover my ears I told them I was going to get it cut. They said, "No Dad, let us give you a permanent. You'd look good with curly hair." So I let them do it. The next evening I went to the classroom where I was attending a photo seminar. This was the second or third week. I was sitting in the first row when the speaker walked in. He looked at me and said, "I think you're in the wrong classroom." I had to convinced him it was really me. The very next day I got the number 2 blade all the way around much to my daughters' disappointment. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot.
