World Update after France?

Featured Replies

All the MSFS 2020 world updates thus far has been in the northern hemisphere and so will the next one, namely France. Is it not time that Microsoft and Asobo turn their attention to the southern hemisphere? I would love if they could do my own region namely Southern Africa.

There is so much natural beauty in the area including world famous game parks that can be filled with the big 5 animals in the simulator. South Africa also boasts modern cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg and many points of interests that can be added in a world update. Also big airports like Oliver Tambo in Johannesburg, the Cape Town International Airport and the King Shaka International Airport outside Durban that can make a world update worthwhile.

The flighstim community in the region is big and are growing daily. At one stage on flightsim.to the number of community scenery add-ons developed for South Africa were the third highest in terms of numbers.

The world update after France surely can't also be in the northern hemisphere! Come on Microsoft and Asobo, show Southern Africa some love.

Personally I'd rather see Namibia done. 😉

Namibia is part of Southern Africa and has got magnificent scenery so yes Asobo please start looking at us on the southern tip of Africa

It's not only France in the next update but also Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands! But I agree, Africa/Asia /Oceanië/South America are beautiful continent too and I hope they think about these parts of the world too

In one of the first dev interview videos, Jörg Neumann said they were flying over cities in the northern hemisphere, in order to make use of the summer. Then it took a while to process the data and sort out the POIs with their models and integrate them in the new height maps,

My guess is, they already have lots of unedited photos of southern hemisphere locations, maybe some gaps remaining to get filled, and getting ready for processing. However, if there's still unreleased northern hemisphere data, I'm pretty sure they're going to get it out before they start with the southern hemisphere.

@Riaan77077 I think lack of data for presents issues for some of the regions you mentioned. No only must there be intention and demand, but there must be useable sources.

More than anything I'd like the polar regions. Everywhere in the far north and south is risible when it should be magnificent. I expect that'll need a humongous investment in better data so probably won't happen any time soon.

Is this your personal wish list, or is it real (inofficial) information about the upcoming world updates?

The whole Caribbean over Mexico would be my vote.

Well yeah! I mean us having Florida bases that’s a given... didn’t want to seem too greedy! 😁
