Double check that you don't have speed brakes, flaps, and/or gear down?

Thanks - yeah, gear was up, flaps and speed brakes were retracted. It was very strange...

Were you climbing through clouds?

Scattered, but mostly clear.

Ahh ok, there’s an issue in the core game with ice accretion when flying through clouds making the aircraft very heavy and unable to climb well but it doesn’t sound like that’s your issue based on the weather conditions.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I can’t get her to climb.

I took off from KJFK on my way to KDCA, and she stopped climbing around 3500. Alt was set at 320, there were no alt restrictions in the plan, no faults on CAS, everything done by the checklists.

If I put the throttles in Toga I could get her up to 8500, but no more. I had the AP engaged in Speed and Nav modes, and I tried changing my target airspeed but no joy.

Even disconnecting the AP, if I pitched up at all I’d just lose airspeed (and eventually altitude).

Any ideas?

Have you tried SPEED mode at 250kts until 10K, and then around 300kts to final alt?  Once you fall behind in speed, it's hard to get back! 🙂

I did set Speed mode shortly after t/o at 250kts, but she wouldn’t go above 200 (another strange issue). I even tried toga and Max power and it didn’t seem to help.

I feel like I’m either missing something obvious or there’s some random bug.

Ďid you forget to gear up?

...sounds like you need to calibrate your throttles; check the Options page on the EBF, and perform the calibration! 🙂

I recalibrated right before the flight but it’s definitely possible that something was off.

@nyfirefly11 ...did you exceed MTOW ?

...but well, sounds more like sevre icing.

I didn’t exceed MTOW, but when I switched from the ZFW page to the payload page, the ZFW kept changing, which was odd.

Icing is definitely possible, though I didn’t see any icing on the fuselage. Does the CRJ throw an alert if ice is detected?

Gear was up!

Definitely a mystery ☺️

Visual icing isnt implemented yet... sdk

and there is a bug in msfs options if selecting visual icing only, it still affect the planes weight as i know.

Regarding the loading, atm you need to use the tablets enter button after using the arrow keys for the zero fuel weight. I would recommend atm, removing all weight from the plane before loading, then after adjusting using the tablet, only use 1 click on the send weight to aircraft button as otherwice cg seam to jump strange.

Also regarding the alert, i got one after landing, after switching off engine anti ice... after some time it went off then, but it also go off if switching engine  anti ice on again. Dont know if the wings have sensors too.

I suspect that you went to the settings menu or paused using the ESC key at some point. This does weird things in MSFS as recorded in detail elsewhere ie full flaps engaged and invisible speedbrakes activated. Deactivate the speedbrakes using keyboard command (Num / in my set up) and you should be able to get to speed and climb.

Are you using a hardware axis to control spoilers by chance? If so I would recommend unbinding it and try flying without. The default MSFS spoiler axis does not “play well” with the CRJ. It can cause both flight and ground spoilers to deploy in the air, (instead of flight spoilers alone), and worse, can leave the spoilers aerodynamically deployed, but not visually, so you might not even know they are active and affecting the aircraft.
