Men Are Just Happier People...

What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves.  Chocolate is just another snack.  You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park.

Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You
don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Wrinkles add character.  Wedding dress - $5,000. Tux rental - $100. People never stare at
your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks.

A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone
forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes - one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can
'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache... You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.  No wonder men are happier!

Humorous post and I enjoyed it, but I just had to  ruin it. Berate me please, I insist. 😞

Saw a cartoon the other day. The doctor was taking the patient's temperature with a rectal mercury thermometer. The patient turns his head and says, "Doc, do you think I am going to make it"? The doctor says to the patient, "I am not sure, Mercury is in Uranus" The patient says, "Doc, I am not into that astrology stuff". The doc says, "No, I just broke the thermometer".

I'll grab me hat and coat now...

I think that we are happier, because we are just basically, simple creatures. 😉

I do wonder how many of these "lack of opportunities" complained about are truly related to some kind of patriarchy, a deliberate attempt to hold women back, and how many are related to other factors.

A sample size of one of course, but my daughter left university with a first. First job she went for she got it,. Quickly promoted. Second job she went for, got that with ease too. Quick as a flash, in only 18 months, she is now one step away from a director, on a great salary and all at the age of 27.  And all that in a male dominated environment.

You should be a proud dad Martin. As my son would say "she done good". Back in my working days I was once what some folks would call an "executive" (I hate that term) and, at that time, most of the discrimination against women was due purely to gender bias. I've been retired for 25 years now and I truly hope things have changed. I can recall times when some of my peers would review resumes of potential new hires and immediately separate the men from the women. I don't need to tell you how much consideration the women got. For a couple of years I was involved with reviewing EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - a government agency) complaints filed by our female employees. I can't even begin to explain how badly some of these women were treated in terms of both pay and promotion opportunities. It's nice to hear a story of someone who didn't go through that.

@Fielder

You seemed to have left out what happened to all of the nice young ladies at the conservative Faux News station and their boss Roger Ailes! 🤔

I don't know any of the particulars but Gabriel Sherman, Gretchen Carlson, and a host of other women took care of the problem at Faux News.. And after all he'd done over all those years he still got US$65 million on his way out the door. That in it's self says a lot about what the problem is.

Oh yes, she's amazing. The most successful in our family by many orders of magnitude. My son is super smart too, but he's quite happy if he's earning enough to do the things he enjoys, and that's it. Daughter on the other hand is beyond ambitious.

Yep, it was bad for sure in those days. And of course it still exists, but I don't think its as bad as some claim and there are laws against such behaviour now.

Sometimes its more to do with the difference in male and female psychology than gender. Women sometimes complain that they are "talked over" in meetings, for example, and that this is simply due to discrimination. In reality, I think its more to do with testosterone, in that men tend to be more aggressive, more assertive. They talk over each other too, not just women. Its the assertive women who do well in that domain and that certainly applies to my daughter. She's very much like me, a bit fiery.

My youngest daughter graduated high school and became a Pier One city manager in 4 years.  She is now the CFO of a mortgage company in Colorado with high 6 figure income.  All on a high school diploma.  She never went to college.

When she got promoted to the head of the concessions department when working for United Artists Theaters her boss was asked how come she got promoted when she doesn't even have a degree.  He relied, "She does have a degree.  A WORK."

I told my kids when they ere growing up that college degrees were important for getting you in the door.  But once you are inside it's demonstrated performance that gets you ahead.  I some is asked by your boss to do some menial job and he/she say's "That's not my job," step and volunteer to do it yourself.  You will just have eliminated one of your competitors.
