How To Make P3D v4.5 Look Better??

Since MSFS came out I've been flying that, but lately I have wanted to fly many aircraft I have in P3D v4.5 that are not yet available in MSFS.

I have noticed coming back to P3D v4.5 that my set up has noticeably less 'dynamism' in the sky & ground lighting, than MSFS.

The P3d sky & ground look fairly bland

Without having to go to P3D v5.1, what products could, [I will probably regret saying this], make my P3D v4.5 look more like MSFS? Inject some dynamism into it?

A loaded question if there ever was... 🙂

That said my thoughts on kitting out a P3D v4.5 sim are.

Textue replacements:

A free and decent grass texture that looks and performs great. https://drzewiecki-design.net/prodDD_GrassX.htm

A free replacement moon and stars. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/569538-grew-tired-of-the-moon-and-sun/

A payware replacment texure package, I use Rex Texure Direct with Soft Coulds, but there is also Toga Projects Envtxt and probably others.

Weather:

  • Active Sky Next (for realtime, historical or weather of your own design).
  • Real Turb (uses active sky next api to inject turbulance into the sim).

Navigation:

Additionals #1:

  • Banking camera (AVSIM library, banks the VC view in line with actual banking).
  • Edit Voice Pack (because the default ATC can at least use the latest phrasing) https://editvoicepack.com/
  • FS Reborn (visibility of AI craft is hugely improved).
  • TimeZone Fixer (from SimElite).
  • Accu-Feel (A2A's toolset for improving all aircraft immersion).

Additionals #2:

Shaders:

  • TomatoShade (Free but complex to tune)
  • Reshade (Free but complex to tune)
  • Envshade (Payware and simple to tune)

I use Tomato and Reshade with my own configs.

Scenery:

  • Orbx Base and Vector
  • Whatever other scenery you'd prefer, e.g. for photreal there is MegaScenery, BlueSky or Orbx True Earth.

PTA with Gerard's PTA presets.

REX SkyForce for beautiful skies, clouds, and water. If you want the best weather generator money can buy for P3D v4, you need ASP4.

If you want beautiful ground textures, then ORBX TE should be considered.

Sure, here you go, it's in the spoiler, just copy out the spoiler contents into your own ini file, load it into TomatoShade and apply.

I've named it "v1.0.8 Tomato Shade - Clouds-Lighting-AtmoFog-WaterSatuation-All_Items_Tuning.ini" being as it's a work in progress, but I'm pretty happy with it myself.

Note the author of Tomato shade never updated for P3D 4.5 HF3 full compatibility which is why you'll see sections not enabled as they generate errors, that said everything I've configured is just fine in 4.5 HF3.

I do also make 2 x manual shader edits post applying the TomatoShade config, both easily done in a text editor like notepad++, just be sure to backup the shader file first for rollback if desired.

Back to using 4.5 hf3 with tomatoshade with R&D preset and am very pleased for now until truesky is more matured.
