The Majestic Q400 is a very stable aircraft. When you say crash: what do you mean by that ?  Does the aircraft crash somewhere or does p3d crash or does windows crash ?

Is there something in the eventviewer ? Is it only the Qlink version ?  can you fly other versions ? Can you fly other aircraft ?

Have you followed the P3D debugging steps ?  https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=123246

e.g. Qlink version, P3d crashes, Air Canada loads but instruments flicker and alarm (fuel pressure)

Other aircraft e.g PMDG work ok.

Will check out your link and advise.  Thanks for your response.

The Q400 has worked flawlessly for me in V5.1.

Just wondering...when you did you initial aircraft install, did you install as an Administrator with your antivirus off?

Installed as Admin, no Antivirus

As it happens, even the default aircraft cause a shutdown/crash.

Of the aircraft that do work (PMDG) in 4 out of 6 flights crashed.  Going by various forum posts this is a common occurence in V5, with Direct x V12 been pointed at by many.

The software crashes at random many times.  I am not the only one with these issues in V5.

I migrated from FSX to get away from these issues.

When one installs software it is reasonable to expect it to work without having to do a "Try this, try that routine"

Over to you!

So it's not a Majestic Q400 issue...

Are you familiar with Event Viewer (a Windows tool)? This will be the first tool to help you start to find out the cause for your crashes.

Pretty much any airplane.  Loaded Milviz Kingair 350.  Error "This device(Nvidia GE Force GTX1650) stopped working for the following reasonsDXGL error device hung. Do you want to exit or disable rendering to this device"

I will try to  find event viewer when this flight finishes/crashes.

Posts on NVidia forum say DX12 is causing many problems in all brands of applications.

That graphics card IMO doesn’t have enough vram for v5

Sure? All Nvidia GE Force GTX1650 cards that I can find have 4Gb of Vram.

Calling me a liar?

Sure you aren’t looking at memory speed as opposed to vram?  Actually see now there is one variant at 8gb.  interesting.  Getting back to the issue.  I would get back to your settings and make sure you aren't pushing them too far.  Perhaps even consider some kind of frame rate limit to 30

Maybe worth trying different/older graphic driver versions, some lately have been causing issues.

I don't think VRAM limitations cause DXGI problems--it's more likely to be performance related, e.g. the GPU is being overtasked and can't keep up.  DX12 is *much* less forgiving than DX11 (P3Dv4) in this regard.

A GTX1650 is pretty anemic for P3Dv5...I'd start by reducing settings that hit the GPU way back and see if the errors go away...then work up from there.
