So if you are frustrated with the speed of development at LR...it is what it is.

just because its true doesn't mean i have to like it. and vice versa.

There is no way that LR can match the satellite and photogrammetry imagery

I did, color corrected cloudless go2 is really floating my boat right now.

Luckily, Meyer didn't sell LR to someone else, otherwise XP by now could have ended up having a flight model like MFS or such.

Just an example of how you look to bring MSFS (be it comparison or otherwise) into the conversation...then sit back and blame others for debates about XP vs MSFS that leads to closed threads.

I’ve seen what threads get locked. Particularly in among those who decide to pop in here from time to time. The most recent one ending in personal attacks in the Asobo are looking for aircraft experts for testing thread. Maybe if people who don’t have X-Plane installed anymore, stay in the forums more suited to them, the X-Plane forums would be a much less debated place. The only reason threads get locked here is because people like you want to come in and be disruptive. Why?  Who knows. Fear that X-Plane is a strong competitor?  Maybe.

Oh, FlyBaby was also included in my thoughts, but it appears he may have either been spoken to or he wised up.

I don't insult people for their opinions or tell them that they should leave a thread on a forum board that I don't own. I am also wise enough to know not to demand that other people stop "quoting" me in a thread that I "post" in.

There are many 3PD Devs making great products for great platforms...and not arguing on forum boards about the fact that XP has not made many advances over the last 5 five years.

Again posting things you know nothing about.  3PD's don't come here because they can't be bothered frequenting forums where fans of the competition continue to have pointless debates.  I've even been asked by other developers, "Why do you continue to go there??"

Aside from that, thank you for completing my theory, that there are 3 absolutes in these X-Plane forums.  Greazer, Jarmstro and yourself.

So predictable.  Again, the 3 of you just couldn't help yourself...in a 3 worded post.

Let's be clear, i own XP11, and would buy XP12 in a second if there was enough new features (cloud, water etc.) and a commitment to continued development. No fear here...

I think it is more probable that the fear resides in those who are invested in XP only...and spend 5 pages debating the same people who criticize XP.

You've mentioned this.  Countless times.  Yet, you are still predictable in that you ALWAYS want to start a debate.

If I had any fear about X-Plane's future, I would have shifted to MSFS months ago.  The fact is, I am part of a small group of people who are privy to the future of X-Plane.  I am also in contact with MSFS developers, who I have helped with workflows on texturing.  I have been asked (and I refused) by developers to model and texture add ons for MSFS.

So, I can see what you are trying to do, but it's not working.  If it makes you feel better to say that I have some kind of fear about X-Plane's future, then feel free to say it.

I actually had hope that you wouldn't post anything confrontational in here.  I thought out of the 3 of them, let's see who can't help themselves and who has restraint. I even said, "Looks like FlyBaby was either spoken to, or wised up."

Looks like I was wrong on both counts.

can bring p3d, dcs, war thunder and ace combat 7 into the conversion to.

Unlike MSFS, XP and Laminar aint got nothing to be afraid of from any of them.

But only MSFS is pretending to be something it isnt (a serious sim for serious aviators with serious money to spend - starting at $1000 just for exactly the same copy of xp11 you have installed)

@GoranM For some reason you were triggered by one simple question. Was the new lighting model included in the patch?. Quite why you found it so annoying I know not. In view of a preceding thread if I hadn't of asked there was a good chance that some one else would have.

Don't forget Flight Gear and Aerofly.

Hardly triggered.  It was a pretty silly question coming from someone who has had X-Plane for years, and many add ons.  As well as many X-Plane users saying the new lighting and environment are likely coming to XP12.

On top of all this, I would have thought you were old enough to know better.  Which tells me you were just (as the British and Aussies say) taking the mickey.

The only reason it tipped the scales is because it came from 1 of 3 people I expected it to come from.  If it was asked from someone who didn't know any better, I would have simply said no.

I'm going to reinstall XP tomorrow. A nice fresh uncluttered installation along with the new beta will hopefully pep it up a bit.

I would suggest that in future when you start a thread you append a note making it clear that it's not open for questions or debate.

Great!

But...

The minute you start telling people what to do, or how to do things, you lose all credibility.  I'm wondering, if I post "X-Plane's flight model is the best, and this comment is not to be challenged", would that stop the 3 of you from claiming the opposite?  I might try it.

I'm always open for a debate, or discussion.

Regardless, I've already posted it...your question was answered, and a link was provided. There is no need to carry on.  In future, I'll assume you are a beginner in X-Plane and are completely oblivious to the update process.  Perhaps that will eliminate the heat.

I fully admit that I am not familiar with the update process. I thoroughly enjoyed the Vulkan betas as they evolved but that's about it. Just what's going on now with regard to updates for 11.50 I have no idea and I doubt there are many that do?

ok.  If you say so. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

When loading X-Plane, it checks for updates, and if one is found, it throws up a notification that an update is available.  This happens to anyone who has X-Plane and runs it.  So there are many who own X-Plane that do know of the updates.

NORMALLY, if someone wants to find out what's in the update, all they need to do is do a google search for X-Plane update release notes.  It's the first search result.  If it isn't the current version in the search results, all one needs to do is change the web address to reflect the version number.

Anyway, I really dislike debating with people of age.  Your post history is, you would have to admit, for want of a better word, confrontational.  You seem to enjoy poking the hornets nest.  Albeit, admittedly with a toothpick.  Flybaby and Greazer like to use a jack hammer or a brick.

It'd be nice if we can enjoy this hobby, instead of always bickering.

Then don't. What is your preferred age group for debating?
