So your question was either posted out of ignorance, inability to comprehend or to troll (i.e. suggest that Laminar really needs to update their lighting to become competitive with MSFS but can´t even include it in the latest patch, yada yada yada)...

I think the point he was making was quite clear.

They have a lot to do - even just to make XP11 resemble a finished product.

and we got

Quote

XPD-11278 3D flags for airports missing.

meanwhile even

XCxjcze.png

has been rolled back.

Not even going to bother.  Just look where the thread is going after it started out with, "Update is out".

Unbelievable.  Let's see if I get reported again by the OTHER flight sim enthusiasts for saying anything remotely positive about X-Plane.

Baiting people to defend the indefensible isn't really trolling.

That's too deep for me.  All I said was "Update is out", and the inevitable happened.  I even said it to myself after I posted it, "Let's see how long it takes for Greazer or Jarmstro to say something about a 3 worded post."

Neither of them disappointed.

Oh, FlyBaby was also included in my thoughts, but it appears he may have either been spoken to or he wised up.

Its a fairly rational question for someone who isn't waiting on their every word

Its obvious to everyone who is waiting on their every word

Pretty sure he knew both when he asked the question.

What, exactly, is there to be positive about here?

It's depressing.

Yes and no.

I like to find the positive in anything.

Maybe for you.  Living in a COVID world is depressing enough for me.  Flight simming is my escape, so I remain positive.

I have not been this grumpy with their roadmap since they wrote up this gem

https://developer.x-plane.com/2017/10/x-plane-11-10-beta-5-ding-dong-the-fps-nag-is-gone-mostly/

4 years of pain later and they are almost past those problems - as long as you don't use an AMD GPU.

I wish i could, but I just can't find anything positive in the only fix of the thousands of issues remaining that they felt the need to roll a whole new build for is 3D tags on airports.

Like that matters when the windsocks don't work and the current lighting is so broken it looks better just turning most of it off.

About the only hope I have is maybe we'll get an 11.60 with the worst of the current issues fixed - to keep us entertained while they spend the next 4 years fixing all the new things that will break in the new major version.

And for that I have basically no hope.

Like I said few posts ago, time to flush, all these posts end up in the toilet. So many sad people.

Ouch... you seem to have changed your tune... you used to be pretty positive overall. Hopefully a lot of these will be addressed in XP12 (or whatever they're going to call it)

For goodness sake! Actually, believe it or not, I asked the question about whether the new lighting was included in the patch because I did not know the answer. Am I meant to just divine the answer with some psychic power I am meant conjure up?

The exact words I utter whenever you, Greazer or FlyBaby make a post in here.

I don't believe it.  Sorry.

No.  There are other ways.  But maybe you just aren't aware of them.

No need to say sorry. Insincerity is beneath you. Just say I'm a liar and be done with it, Alternatively you could just post a link to the patch notes?

Again, thank you for proving my theory in a 3 worded post that is without opinion or debate.

Why?  I never called you a liar.  I find it hard to believe you've taken any kind of genuine interest in X-Plane.  I certainly don't believe you asked a genuine question, and instead added a whole sarcastic subtext, which, after going through your post history, any half brained dimwit could see.  But I won't call anyone a liar.  I would much rather you admit you made that post with your tongue very firmly planted in your cheek.  And that's fine if you did.  Again, I did expect it.

I see you edited your post to ask me to include patch notes.

I'll just post this FYI.  Whenever there is a release candidate (designated by the r followed by a number), it means the update is all but final.  They are fixing minor issues that presented themselves with the latest beta.  In this case, 11.55 (which is still in beta).  Release candidate patch notes are found at the bottom of the beta release patch notes. They address very minor issues that presented themselves to people who downloaded the beta version (again, 11.55 in this case).

So, take this how you want to take it, but I did extend credit to frequent X-Plane users, who are aware of the beta process, who should also be aware of release candidates and what they generally contain as an update.  If you, or anyone else, were not aware of this, you are now.

I love XP, it is the best flight simulator overall.

I can live with the issues that remain.

But at the same time it is depressing and frustrating that the issues that remain do not look like they are going to be fixed any time soon, and by the looks of it we are ~6 months away from even an 11.01 quality version of the next gen of xplane.

Its this sort of experience that made me so pessimeistic in the run up to MSFS, I have no doubt in the skill of LR and the team, this stuff is just very hard and very time consuming - but taking 2 months to fix one out of hundreds of memory corruption issues and 3D flags for airports is a record even for them.

Indeed you find it hard to believe anything I say. But you are completely wrong about this. I've had X-Plane for many years and have spent well over £1000 on addons for it including planes from X-Aviation. What turned me off it was the attitude of it's so called community with regard to MSFS the minute it was released. I found myself defending the new sim against a torrent of nonsensical abuse and personal attacks just because I happened to enjoy it. And it's strange how true is the phrase attack is the best form of defence.  Recently I've moved on from X-Plane and deleted it. But I may well go back to it once it's been brought up to date. Hence, and I care not a jot whether you believe me, my question.
