EA in 5.2 Yes or No?

Recommended Posts

How does everyone feel about EA since 5.2 came out?

It looks interesting but on a fully loaded flight I think it is still less realistic then Activesky  with ACSA. Just my opinion for now but still needs work.

I haven't used it very much. I'm going to try Chapstick's suggestion of EA on and volumetric clouds off. The one thing I have an issue with is the amount of haze it depicts. It seems overdone.

I like Ea but there are immersion breakers: like seeing thunderstorm on your weather radar but clear skies in the sim for example….

Do what I do.

Turn it on for on or two flights then start to think "it does look better without doesn't it?".

Fight this urge for one or two flights and then turn it off.  Re-install ASCA.  Do one or two flights and then start to think.......

Rinse and repeat.

Hope that helps.

I have decided to go without EA again as well, especially at high altitude tube liner flights.  Between the cotton balls, waffle clouds and incessant haze at altitude, it just doesn't look right.  I have gone back to ASCA clouds for high altitude flights.  For low and slow GA flights, I still use EA sometimes, but the mountain issue is just a deal breaker, so probably will stop using there as well.

EA plus legacy clouds/ASCA for me.

I’d give anything to have realistic looking thunderstorms though.

I took this picture in May as we were descending into Maui,Hawaii. What was going through my head when I took the picture was no matter how hard they try, flight simulators never quite capture what our environment looks like in real life.
