What was going through my head when I took the picture was no matter how hard they try, flight simulators never quite capture what our environment looks like in real life. Yep. July 4, 20214 yr I'm still on 5.1 HF1. Been reading all the forums deciding if 5.2 HF1 is worth it as I'm not having issues currently. Just want to make sure I'm not missing out on something. I'm waiting for Bob's feedback. July 4, 20214 yr EA on all the way now. Especially with the sun early in the day or later in the afternoon you see the cloudshadows on the clouds. Here 2 screenshots around 11.00h. Not supersharp but you will get the idea. July 4, 20214 yr Here's my settings: EA ON + HDR OFF + Volumetric clouds (edited) + Envshade I used the above config with legacy clouds also (Rex sky force) but after going through some flights with volumetric clouds, just cannot return to 2D/3D clouds. Yes it does look awkward/broken/meme in some situations but for the most part it works fine for me. Edited July 4, 20214 yr by Nocturnal
July 4, 20214 yr How do you set this up ? EA on + Legacy clouds? I have activesky with ESCA. Mark CYYZ

I have not seen the checker board above the clouds. Edited July 5, 20214 yr by reecemj Maurice J I9 12900k \ EVGA 3080ti \ G-Skill 32GB \ Samsung 4K TV

July 5, 20214 yr Commercial Member That white ring is driving me absolutely nuts too. I can’t see much of a difference at all with 200 miles but closing AS remedies it; so I at least it seems isolated to that. July 5, 20214 yr I agree with GSALDEN and now only use the standard shaders, EA and the LM Volumetric Clouds config. I think I have posted these before but will again to illustrate. I also think setting the cloud distance too far out makes it blocky - P3DWX recommend 80 nm only and full cloud or Ultra Volume with real time weather. This is what I get no ENVSHADE and LM only this is real time weather between KRND and San Diego on top at F240. No blocking, good colour and very realistic - good enough for me. I think LM have go it nailed now.

Toggling EA on/off after changing this will revert this to HDR enabled with the checkbox disabled. Cheers. Edited July 5, 20214 yr by Nocturnal
July 5, 20214 yr Here is another comparison . This is sunset at Broome Western Australia. This is with EA on no shader mods applied. First the sim: Second real life airborne off RWY 28 Why the difference - this time of year in WA Australia there is extensive smoke in the atmosphere which gives you that distinct red coloured sky. The haze and the look of the sun between sim and real life is very consistent. Edited July 5, 20214 yr by coastaldriver
