MSFS can be so strange sometimes.  I did a flight in the FBW A32NX last night from KDCA to KCLT.  I hit massive pauses/stutters while enroute around KGSO where FPS dropped to single digits...I even saw it drop to 1 FPS!!  This lasted for about 5-10 minutes...reminded me of the airspace bug that they supposedly fixed a couple months ago.  Did the return flight this morning and one of the smoothest flights I have had.  Barely any stutters and no pauses at all even on approach where I normally always get them about 4-5 miles out.  Only dipped into the 20's on final to KDCA which is a heavy area.  WX was very similar as the prior flight and no changes on my end.  I wonder if sometimes it is just server load on the MSFS side....who knows...

I have just four flights now after deciding to try enabling hyperthreading as it has been maybe 6 months and a lot of updates since I last used HT.  I'm really pleased I am getting the most consistently SMOOTH flights, and balanced use amoungst all LPs, and lower utilization in the main thread as well.  What's even more remakable is CPU temp is no worse.  Right now getting to around 46C is all, and ambient is 70F.  Try if it it's been a while for you I got in the habit of disabling HT because when I was using that oh so hard on the CPU P3D v4.5x as HT was causing the CPU to get into the high 60's C and I'm in it for the long haul so prefer lowest possible temps.  Absolutely a good thing to enable HT w/ my CPU and GPU combination.

I have a question regarding the performance with the flyby wire a320 I cannot seem to get smooth performance.

I have all settings high

render scale 100 and others set at 100

Vsync on 30

monitor refresh rate at 144hz. Should I drop it to 120hz??

Thanks

If you have the in sim settings V-Sync ON and set to 30 FPS, your not getting that at all. at 144hz you setting the sim to 72 fps. If you set to 120Hz your setting to 60 FPS.

🤔 thanks mate, ok so how can I keep my monitor at 144hz and then have the frames locked at say 30?

my P3d is set perfectly but msfs I can’t get it right.using rtss

cheers

mike

You can use RTSS to set to 30 at 144 or 120Hz, but useing the in sim V-Sync the closest you can get is 120 Hz and in sim V-Sync On and what it "says" 20 FPS, it will set FPS to 40.

Not here. Last few days have been the worst performance I've ever experienced.

Same for me.

9 months after launch, and we still have to put up with inconsistent performance that just comes and goes. *shaking my head*

Hoping that the vaunted "performance upgrade" coming later this month will finally fix things, but I will believe it if and when I see it.

Placebo we say.

Simming since FS 98. MSFS rig - Ryzen 3600 4.2Ghz - 32GB RAM 3600Mhz - Motherboard MSI 570 A Pro - RTX 2080 Ti -all overclocked - 2xNVME storage. PSU Corsair HX850i platinum. Average 30Fps on 4K ultra.

HT is better here also - actually has been on all of my other past flightsims

What does the dev mode do actually ?

Mike

It allowed me to see the frame counter and the load on the different threads. I only use it when I see something unusual. This time my good impression was confirmed.

I just wanted to add to my previous post that this improvement happened after I installed the latest Windows update earlier this week.

I'm not saying there is some correlation, I am just giving some information to those interested.

You're not seeing any improvement, ok. I did.

The two facts are not incompatible: too many variables to control, so we are not in a scientific setting.

So, no reason to say "placebo".

I may add another bit of information: maybe it was a coincidence, but when I saw the best MSFS performance till today, the ping to my  scenery server was 9 ms, which is the lowest I have ever seen (it's usually around 30 - 40 ms)

Andrea,

Great to see you are getting a better experience, better ping does not equal performance gains as per se, but I get you. Enjoy.

I just did a flight in the TBM (with mod) and it was the smoothest it has ever been. I did install the latest Windows update yesterday, as an FYI.

7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

its not impossible that Microsoft has rolled out some updates before the Asobo ones in a couple of weeks.
