Exaggerated reflections P3D v5.2

Featured Replies

Hello,

Since the release of v5.2 I have noticed exaggerated reflections on AI airplanes, the airplane's fuselage, water, buildings, PAPI lights, etc. Does anyone know if that is a new feature that can be disabled or attenuated?

Some screenshots for reference:

Thanks!

One of the next stupid and unrealistic things LM introduced with 5.2.

Intel i9 12900K, Asus ROG Strix Gaming Z690-A Wifi D4, GSkill 32gb, RTX 4090

Reduce the bloom slider in P3D menu.

That helps to some extent, but the problem is still there, I constantly see flashing airplanes, buildings, etc.

It wasn't happening before v5.2 with the same amount of bloom.

This again can be down to your settings in P3D, + PC specs monitor res.

Agreed. Everything looks good to me. Especially the first two shots.

Yeah I agree that those reflections in the first two shots are fine and quite realistic. Sometimes I have noticed hat things that look odd to me are actually a whole lot more 'real' than I sometimes think, especially when it comes to reflections. I do agree that the dynamic lights from planes sometimes appear strangely bright.

I think this depends on the Dynamic Reflections setting. At Ultra I was seeing this but at high, not so much.

That might be it. I have it set to Medium.

I see this and I have Dynamic reflections turned off! In the most part I think it looks very realistic.

Sometimes I think simmers spend so much time sat at a screen they forget what the real world looks like.

Thank you all for your feedback, my P3D settings are exactly the same as they were in previous versions of P3D v5. The issue is mainly visible while panning around in external view, see the following videos, to me this does not look natural and has been introduced in 5.2. I feel that if that was a real world situation I would be blind by now.

Dynamic reflections are set to Medium and Bloom to 0,8, same as before the update.

Honest to god, I sometimes see exactly the same thing on my way home in the evening when the sun is setting. When the sun is exactly at the right angle the occasional metalic surface or other shiny material really can have a bright reflection like that.

Take a look at this video of Air Force One and it's support aircraft arriving at RAF Lakenheath. Take a look at the sun reflections on the aircraft (starting at about 3:10). I would say the sun reflections in this video are even brighter than what you have posted in those screenshots.
