Performance boost vs /server ?

Featured Replies

This WU update in combined with the Xbox release is this really the deal of up to 70 percent increase of performance?

Is this calculated with another 1 or maybe 2 million new users  on Xbox ?

?

Maybe we just now want to explore MSFS before the xbox series degrade the performance because of more users.

I am not sure of the perf impact, if any, of the X-Box users.  Since it's cloud-based I would think it would be somewhat insulated as to more users.  It's not like a few server farms circa 2007 getting overwhelmed.

I would temper your expectations as to a "70% performance increase".  I haven't seen that figure anywhere until you posted it just now.  But even a modest performance improvement would be welcome, especially in the big city areas as we have seen in the preview vid.

In some places in the comparison video, I actually saw more than this, maybe 30 fps to 60 fps in some places, certainly a change from low 30s to high 50s, but it was for that specific computer, which was quite mid range and only running at 40% scaling.

It looked really encouraging, but I don't know if it will scale that well with all types of PC systems and graphics cards etc.  Some testers (who shouldn't  be saying anything under NDA) have hinted at being mildly impressed by the gains. We don't  have long to wait to try it ourselves now.

As for the server issues, who knows?  But with all of the extra revenue from xbox sales, I would expect MicroSoft to keep it running at acceptable streaming levels or they will get panned, and bad publicity isn't good for future sales as we know.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

The end of that video I thought the author was making the case 20-30% increase in performance was epic, and that higher percentage increase was more likely in lower end machines.

As far as it is currently known from some people "reporting" from their own beta tests, there should be some sizable improvements for anyone running relatively powerful multicore CPUs that are currently seeing their performance limited by the main thread in MSFS while simultaneously having their GPU running well below 100% utilisation.

I've yet to see perf limited by the main thread but that is only because of my 2070 Super, which is morphing into a 3080 Ti   Plus it helps to vsync to 30hz.

Microsoft has the second biggest server farm in the world and they have a lot of experience running them. Increasing the capacity to be able to serve xbox users is trivial to them
