Seafront: Vessels Enhanced AI and Global Shipping!

I'm curious to know about your previous packages - the channel islands and antigua. Do your new products replace these or compliment them? I just want to make sure there are no conflicts for those of us who have antigua and channel islands installed.

Can anyone say how many models are actually in this package? Is this as varied as the freeware or is it just the same models again and again? Many of the screenshots and the video shows ships which were already in the Channel Islands and Antigua packages.

Hello,

pls think about bundle version so ALL in ONE like Henrik's free addon. Package will look more interesting and could be cheaper perhaps (for us, users).

I see that traffic needs your models so there is no need to sell AI traffic and models separately if traffic requires models? So proposition is: 1/ only models 2/ models plus traffic?

It could be a bigger incentive for new clients i guess. And my second proposition - demo of model and traffic. Personally I dont know why, but I never saw any vassels in MSFS from the one year 😄! My slider is set up at 50% level for ships traffic, I fly a lot in Alaska and close to oceans or seas, I dont use Henrik addon, just default. Dont know why I never see any ship in MSFS LOL.

Hi Yoyo,

I think there's some confusion here about the relationship between Enhanced AI and Global Shipping.

Vessels: Enhanced AI - It replaces the default AI boat models (the sim has 14) with our models, which are more varied (e.g. a catamaran, sailboats and speedboat instead of four very similar superyachts ported from FSX). The sim limits us to 14 unless MS increase this themselves. It works with the handful of routes and automatically generated coastal traffic that is in the sim already. If you have the traffic sliders around 80-100% you will see them along the coasts of (mainly) built up areas (especially noticeable at dawn/dusk), without Global Shipping. Importantly, Enhanced AI works as a standalone product. It has been provided separately for people that don't want to buy Global Shipping and Global Shipping is not required for it to work. For comparison/demo: Below is a shot of pure Enhanced AI (without wakes as it was an earlier build).

5a27ce04daceca2e01d526cccf8e5c948a24a31c

Vessels: Global Shipping - Uses the utility, fishing and cargo ships included in Enhanced AI but adds five further models (this will be expanded in future updates). That said, we do not intend to have the number of models that are in Henrik's freeware. The focus with Global Shipping is mainly cargo, so whilst we may add other types (e.g. ferries, military ships etc) in the future, it will not be a main feature. As we stated earlier in the thread we are "using our time to increase traffic volume over model quantity. We are always balancing the addition of models (which with their various high detail texture layers and multiple LODs can end up quite large) over storage/download size. For that reason (and we will stress here as we have elsewhere) we believe that such addons compliment each other and we are not seeking to compete with or replace anyone's mod including Henrik and his team's efforts. The ocean is a very large place and as far as we are concerned the more boats the better."

Below is a picture of Global Shipping:

Bundling: We were going to bundle initially but instead decided to lower the overall price for both products individually so as not to penalise customers who only wanted to purchase the Enhanced AI product.

Thanks as always for the interest. Asking questions like this helps us to describe this and future products to potential customers.

My question is, does the new Enhanced AI + Global Shipping replace Antigua and Channel Island addons?

is it correctly understood that you are talking about 14 + 5 models plus I suppose repaint variants over the same models? And then a big part of the routes are the default routes but now with nicer upgraded models? Is the Global Shipping adding additional routes compared to the Enhanced AI?

Hi @captain420

You'll just see even more of our boats instead 🙂

So all these products will add to one another and won't cancel each other out right? I just want to be sure there are no conflicts.

Two are repaints of one of the cargoships. Enhanced AI does not add more routes, it uses those already in the sim. Global Shipping adds ~50,000 more of them across the world.

That's correct. These two products are different from our 'main' line of purely coastal sceneries.

I appreciate your openness, and I hope you appreciate mine too - that price is absurdly high for only 5 cargo ship models, night lighting or not. This basically means that on your screenshot at dawn alone those 5 models are used twice or even three times.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Thanks - but does that then mean that I will see the same 19 ships 50.000 times depending on were I am in the world or is there some kind of regional like you did with your previous addons, which I kind of liked.

Hi @fiorentoni

Indeed we do and we're sorry you feel that way. I'll clarify that 10 models are used in Global Shipping currently (it doesn't use the sailing yachts, catamaran and speedboat that are in Enhanced AI). As we have stated, our effort is focused on the the number of routes primarily. Models can be very large in file size at this quality and with a number of LODs, so it's a conscious decision to save disk space/download time for our customers. Additional models will be added in the future but again, it is a secondary aim.

So it is not what I want, but still I like that have you have a clear concept and communicate that transparently, so good luck and much success!

Thanks @Fiorentoni. We try our best, it's always a school day. The majority of effort has gone into the routes. Introducing new models is not as much of a challenge as introducing this many routes with their coordinates, timings etc to the sim on such a large scale.
