Good idea!

Two are repaints of one of the cargoships. Enhanced AI does not add more routes, it uses those already in the sim. Global Shipping adds ~50,000 more of them across the world.

Hi Yoyo,

I think there's some confusion here about the relationship between Enhanced AI and Global Shipping.

Vessels: Enhanced AI - It replaces the default AI boat models (the sim has 14) with our models, which are more varied (e.g. a catamaran, sailboats and speedboat instead of four very similar superyachts ported from FSX). The sim limits us to 14 unless MS increase this themselves. It works with the handful of routes and automatically generated coastal traffic that is in the sim already. If you have the traffic sliders around 80-100% you will see them along the coasts of (mainly) built up areas (especially noticeable at dawn/dusk), without Global Shipping. Importantly, Enhanced AI works as a standalone product. It has been provided separately for people that don't want to buy Global Shipping and Global Shipping is not required for it to work. For comparison/demo: Below is a shot of pure Enhanced AI (without wakes as it was an earlier build).

Vessels: Global Shipping - Uses the utility, fishing and cargo ships included in Enhanced AI but adds five further models (this will be expanded in future updates). That said, we do not intend to have the number of models that are in Henrik's freeware. The focus with Global Shipping is mainly cargo, so whilst we may add other types (e.g. ferries, military ships etc) in the future, it will not be a main feature. As we stated earlier in the thread we are "using our time to increase traffic volume over model quantity. We are always balancing the addition of models (which with their various high detail texture layers and multiple LODs can end up quite large) over storage/download size. For that reason (and we will stress here as we have elsewhere) we believe that such addons compliment each other and we are not seeking to compete with or replace anyone's mod including Henrik and his team's efforts. The ocean is a very large place and as far as we are concerned the more boats the better."

Bundling: We were going to bundle initially but instead decided to lower the overall price for both products individually so as not to penalise customers who only wanted to purchase the Enhanced AI product.

Thanks as always for the interest. Asking questions like this helps us to describe this and future products to potential customers.

How does this fit with your promotion on ORBX saying the package includes "includes tens of thousands of high-quality, PBR, night-lit utility, fishing and cargo ships"? I am sorry to say it, that seems to be pretty much misleading. I think in fairness to potential customers you should correct that, because it is nonsense, when you only add 19 models. I think your product has other qualities, but you ought to be more precise in your marketing.

Agree. I really looked forward to this and even thought it was going to be real AI with ships realistically placed, but this seems to make the same mistake as the default AI - it places a supertanker in the smallest port. I had three identical default supertankers almost on top of each other in San Francisco - with this I understand it will be the same or worse with all the additional routes. No go from here. I want a lot of ships but I want the real ships like I want real airplanes in the airports. MSFS is still behind on that one.

I bought both products, and have already installed, and uninstalled three times, to find out why I have so sparse populating of spots that I know would be populated with Hendrick's Global v2.  I deleted that thinking that the two would conflict.  With sliders at 100 percent I barely see even three ships out in the channels around Orbx KORS.  Where are the 50,000 routes?!?!?   If anybody can point me to a location that this software (the two of them combined) will spawn anything even close to the YouTube promotion videos...please direct me to that spot.

Since, I have reinstalled Hendrick's AI Global V2 to get back shipping and other entities on the oceans.

So anybody that has this...can you direct me to a port or whatever where you see this software in 'action'.  Thanks.

I will happily add some additional routes which can be activated by higher traffic settings - in my next update - but not 50.000...

Anyway to your comment on conflict - from a technical point of view there should not be a real conflict just a risk of a mess.

Can you point out where the promotion videos spawned the traffic that made me press the $$$ button?  Thanks.  I would like to go there within the sim and have a look to compare, with sliders at my 100 percent settings.

No idea. Could be anywhere, but be aware... the MSFS AI engine is very buggy compared to FSX and P3D...... that might also go for payware....

I think it referenced Singapore and some other locations.  I did a flight around my home Halifax Harbour yesterday and the harbour was quite busy, with additional vessels visible offshore.

If you contact Orbx (if you bought off their site) and ask for a REFUND,  and explain why you feel this product did not match the descriptions and or promotional content put out for it...they will most likely grant you your refund.

Edit: Be aware that that request is time limited. If you wish to, I'd connect with their site and make the request ASAP.

Hi. No need to go that route. I have survived lotsa SU5 ctd and stutters, so I will survive this. Thanks.

I'd like to share here Henrik's answer to my question about the difference between those 2 approaches, I hope this will make things clearer for everyone:

ME: What I don’t understand, if I set all my boats sliders to 6% like instructed, I barely see any sail boats. I was in the Carribeans today and nothing. IRL it’s full of sail boats and yachts…
So maybe the 6% are only for ferries and big ships ?

HENRIK: You have in MSFS and also P3D/FSX two types of “boats” or “ships” which are adjusted in different ways. “Leisure boats” and “Ships and Ferries”. “Leisure boats” spawns while “Ships and Ferries” follows predetermined routes.

The Global AI Ship Traffic is regulated in “Ship and Ferries”. It does include sail boats but mostly larger ones like Tall Ships, Volvo Ocean Race sailboats, some classic sail boats etc which sails on predetermined routes. There are also a few small private sailboats, but only on routes in a limited number of areas. So if you put “Ships and Ferries” at 6% and “Leisure Boats” at 0% you will only see very few small sailboats.

As mentioned Leisure boats in MSFS are programmed to spawn near cities and they do not follow routes.

This means that you can put the sliders for Leisure Boats at 100% - that will not interfere with Global AI Ship Traffic which is regulated by Ships and Ferries. As the Leisure Boats spawns instead of following routes they are also very performance friendly, so you can even at a low end rig move the leisure boat slider up without worries.

Moving the Ships and Ferries beyound the 6% however means that you will get the same big default ships repeated all over the Globe - and that also goes if you purchase the Enhanced AI as I can read on Avsim this morning that it just replaces the 14 default ships. Even with the Global Shipping product you only get 5 more ships, so basically as I mentioned previously in a couple of posts - these products can increase your density of ships, but not the diversity as all in all they just contain 19 ship models compared to 1300 in the Global AI Ship Traffic…

Some of the smaller boats included in GLobal AI Ship Traffic - the start of the Volvo Ocean Race near Cardiff - Screenshot from P3D as I am far from my MSFS computer.

My conclusion: I'll buy Enhanced AI and put the leisure boats slider to 100% and use Henrik's addon for the rest and put "Ships and Ferries" to 6%

Noooch interesting post...

1)I have all 3 of these so would like to try and run them together- by setting ships and ferries to 65% are you not effectively disabling the global shipping and what happens with the wake effects (which I like)? or did I misunderstand 🙂

2)Also how are finding the wake effects? I have only seen a couple of bigger ships moving with the wake effect (impressive) - but everything else seems to be static  in the water with the small sail boats moving but producing no effect...........maybe its my settings?

Edited by mac44

Hi Mac44,

You don't disable Global AI Ship Traffic by increasing to 65% - the reason I always recommended keeping 6% was to avoid the repetitions of the default ships. Now if you have all three add-ons you will see more traffic increasing to 65%. Global AI Ship Traffic will remain the same with a diverse regional traffic based on the 1300+ models, but the 19 ships from the two add-ons you purchased will be repeated all over the Globe. In some places I think that will look good now Enhanced AI "beautified" the default models - in some places it will not be realistic as it is rather big ships and the default routes at least will put many of the same ships next to each other.

Regards to the wake issue I suppose Seafront will help you with that.

Henrik

Are shipping ships dependent on using Live Traffic setting?
I tested this program last night and used the AI traffic setting, as there is rarely any flights in the vicinity where I fly at night.
But so far I have only seen Sailboats, Fishing Boats and Yachts, but no shipping ships.
