Seafront: Vessels Enhanced AI and Global Shipping!

I didn't check for this but did you guys manage to deliver routes along the Rhein and other rivers alike or it not possible technically?

Thank you

All ship traffic spawns at sea level, so it will spawn below (or above) any rivers that are above sea level. This was answered earlier in the thread.

Hi Sesquashtoo,

We're really sorry that you're not getting the desired effect from your purchase. The trailer videos are of the product as it was sold. They're just videos of some flights we did over various areas (San Fran, Gibraltar, Nice (France), Istanbul to name a few) and haven't been changed them in any way. We recognise there are a couple of issues: Too many boats in some places and not enough in others, some issues that have been completely misattributed to us as with other developers but are a result of SU5, and some that we know to be ours that we are rectifying. Our vision for what we want to achieve with Global Shipping is still there. We have heard the feedback from a few people about wanting more boats sooner (we've always said that we will add more in over time with all of our products). If you speak to Orbx they should still be able to process the refund as far as we believe. Hopefully we'll welcome you back at some point in the future.

Thank you for your personal response.   Let me first say, that your product of populating marinas, adding superstructure and docks,  adding sailing and pleasure craft...around St. Martin was most excellent!  Your product brought the life of the rich, to what area of the world, we know it is healthy and active.  I  was expecting quite frankly,  as per the original add copy on Orbx..another WHACKED OUTTA THE PARK!   For myself, I did not see that.  Around the PNW islands,  at a 100 percent slider, I barely see (of your repetitive (not used in a sarcastic vent))  3 or four of your vessels over 40 square miles or greater of ocean surface.

I then re-installed Hendrik's for MSFS V1 and wham bam....I had traffic (in channel) coursing over the water (different models to promote realism)  almost in a 'trucker convoy'  It was great to see traffic.

I also went to Alaska, and flew over Homer, ..and other places, with not one or your cargo ships spawning at all.  That was before I reinstalled Mr. Hendrik.  After that install?  Heck, I had not only cargo ships coming around the marina horn, but had fishing vessels and a cruise ship on the inside bay.   So, I am confused in what you displayed as all the routes near and around Alaska.  I am not typing anything here, with a hurtful, or sarcastic bent.  I am only and honestly reporting the lack of, most of why I invested in these two products to date

I won't be seeking a refund, because (based on your wonderful debut effort) I WANT to support your new Company and its entry and endeavors!   I believe most sincerely that after reading many other's 'under whelmed' post purchase remarks, that you as a company, will step up to the plate , and will review your product and inject much more content, and quickly so.   My personal opinion, and again, I state 'personal', as I respect that there are other opinions out there...is that you DO NEED varied models of shipping, if you wish to create a real life scenario that you so expertly did, in your St. Martin redo.  I hope in the near future to see with your two products showing they have an update on Orbx Central, to realize that hope.   Thanks for responding, and I hope you take my response, in kind.  Cheers,

Will sit back and wait to get OVER-whelmed by your updates to these two products/projects!

Well, looks like another company aiming for fast money in the MSFS hype train using 3D models bought from commmercial source (thus the rather high price tag) but delivering less than currently available freeware. Pity that MSFS allows such developments just due to the sheer size of the potential market...

Greetings, Chris

What do you expect from Avsim these days? It has been wild, people are just busy spreading conspiracy with no facts and other members ride on that train as well.

Very true Omar, but unfortunately this is not only on Avsim.
Aggressiveness, ignorance and mediocrity seem to be the new moral values of this sick world.

Hi hanhamreds - I believe this is something do with antialiasing in the sim or just with the latest update. Hopefully things will improve on the sim side and we will also be looking to improve the effects ourselves of course.

Thanks for the reply👍

That at least one model from this addon here is a commercial available one was shown elsewhere, no need to proof that any further. That MSFS is a potentially huge market where you want to be in rather fast than only late, is another given fact.

So, call my statement rude, but it is not unfair (why should it, it is based merely on facts) and for sure it is not "absolutely wrong".

We as flightsimming community should finally accept that latest with MSFS, the addon market became a business like any other in the gaming world. Certainly no need to keep the romantic and naive attitude that was perfectly valid over decades, when most of the addons were developed by enthusiasts in their spare time for the sake of the simming community. This is no longer the reality, for sure not for payware products. Nothing illustrates this better than this addon here: back in the naive romantic days, people would have gathered together to develop a nice AI ship addon, nowadays, some novel devs suddenly appear from nowhere and release a payware product where a freeware one exists but might need adaptation until working properly in MSFS. Welcome to reality, guys...

Freeware is still a totally different story, for sure.

Greetings, Chris

Some talk over on the RTMM forum that  running Henrik,s  ships causes problems

MSFS 2020 appears to close down normally but in fact crashes

Recommended that Henrik,s ships are not used at the moment until updated

Seems a bit irrelevant for the discussion here - maybe discuss it in the thread on that project if you have issues. .. For me that one seems to work fine.

I mostly fly VFR to discover new places and I really thought this add on would fit into that after trying their Channels Islands and reading all the comments. With the Global AI Ship freeware  I have used LittleNavMap to find different ships and enjoyed like Sesquashtoo to find real crab fishing boats in Homer or boss the latest Chinese war ships. That is why I asked how many models were included. Now looking at the screenshots posted with routes all over the oceans but with so few different ships I really don't get the point of this add on anymore. Paying for finding the same stuff all the time or having ships out somewhere in the Pacific where I would never fly, no thanks. Not even if it works fantastic until Asobo changes everything in a month leaving us all with useless stuff we paid with our hard earned money . Just saw Aerosoft giving up on their simple AI... and that is Aerosoft not a newcomer.

Hi again all,

A brief update.

Some users are reporting disappearing boats from our Enhanced AI set. This has been introduced as a result of SU5. We have reported this to MS/Asobo. It wasn't there when we were developing the product. We are also seeing many more loitering/static boats than there should be but are checking to see if that's the result of something that 'snuck in' during release or is also SU5.

One separate but rather significant issue we have reported to MS/Asobo is the that the water traffic (ours and theirs) doesn't update with the plane's position (i.e ships don't appear ahead of your route). The sim doesn't track your position and bring in ground traffic relevant to where you are. So when you take off you might see some and then they slowly fade away with just a few of the coastal leisure boats appearing when you land. The only less than ideal work around we've observed is to change the weather and/or time to give the sim a 'kick'. MS/Asobo are looking into this too but we have no idea of timescales for a fix/update. I believe it was an issue pre-SU5 but no one really noticed until now.

To the idea that we're trying to make a quick buck: After paying modellers (yes we use commercial models and are proud to support that community), source material, software, commission, other usual business costs and various taxes we actually receive very little from each sale, especially for the number of hours that have been invested over the last 11 months. For example with the free Channel Islands, St Martin, the practical re-work of the entire UK South East as a result of World Update 3 and the Balearics, working with a moving target, plus developing much of our tooling from scratch etc. Adding thousands upon thousands of boats to marinas, dressing the scenes and hand animating (for our other sceneries) is not a quick job. We have invested way more money and effort than many sane people would because we have and hope to continue to enjoy it. We have bought, converted, and remodelled/repainted lots and lots of models for the sim as you can see in St Martin - many don't lend themselves to freight, utility cargo however. The payware model is the only way we could sustain this hobby and that has meant setting up a company. It's our belief that no one wants to wait years and years for the additional traffic so this is how we've approached it. We saw a way of getting some real world AIS data into the sim to really lift the amount of traffic and wanted to bring that to people that were fans of our other products. We apologise to those that are not seeing what they expected, and we agree there are some areas that have far less than they should. No one wants that especially us. -We actually have enough data for some 250,000 routes but of course need to balance performance, loitering times etc. The sim is quite crude (currently) in how it deals with timings. We are working with MS/Asobo to rectify SU5 changes and historical issues that impact the releases negatively and are also making improvements on our side. We are being open and honest here about the what and why but for now please accept our apologies for focusing on the improvements and spending a little less time on the forums.

There is nothing wrong with making a "quick buck". And you guys seemed to be up on things.

You could deliver a pitch-perfect product and folks would still whine incessantly.

I mean, Rihanna could be knocking on an avsimmer's bedroom door and make him an offer he couldn't refuse for $10 - he'd probably say: WUT? Get the f... outta here, you just want to make a quick buck!
