The frett version retains the normally aspirated engine while the lower link adds a turbocharged engine.

Thanks but not sure I follow. Which is going to be the most realistic? And which is going to enhance the G36 the most?

The performance of a real-life normally aspirated Bonanza and Turbo Normalised Bonanza are quite different at altitude.

Also do not get too obsessed with "book numbers" as no two aircraft fly the same even if they are ostensibly identical, and once owners start fitting bigger engines, different props and other aftermarket stuff that changes things again.

Note that there is actually a way to install BOTH at once so you can choose at the selection window - if you search through the threads on the Turbo Bonanza you will find details of how to do it.

I'm not sure.  Robert Young, of the old Realair company, produced some of the most accurate planes for flightsim to date.  When he released his bonanza mod for MSFS I installed it on day one.  I'm not certain if it's working flawlessly in the current MSFS build but I do like it.  I don't have the other mod.

Robert Young's turbo model. It was extensively tested by pilots with time in the real one, and he did some fantastic work.

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

Just did some test flights and Robert's plane is really good. It just veers very badly when taking off and landing....

A lot of aircraft do at least in my version of the sim.

The sim needs some nose up trim on take-off for many aircraft or they will wheelbarrow.  Not realistic but just how the game works at present.

Will try to trim up.

I prefer TheFrett's G36 mod as I'm not a fan of turbo normalised aircraft, Beechcraft never made them like that it's an aftermarket modification (albeit somewhat common). Also TheFrett's includes some additional simulated functions that I don't believe Robert's does (like air con, fuel pumps, electrical revisions). Rob's might handle or fly more realistically, he does have a good reputation in that regard, but I've no complaints with TheFrett's.

Downside with TheFrett is it he seem to be working on it any more so it might become incompatible.

Just coming back to this thread as I started to fly the G36 and love it.  However, I have been using the G36 project and it really doesn't play nice with the NXi (yet).  I'm wondering if I should install the Robert Young version or uninstall the NXi and continue to use the WT G1000 mod for now.  I really like how the NXi has a functioning "Direct" mode and can't see myself going back very easily...

That's correct sir, the Frett G36 mod is not at all compatible with the NXi.

Sadly, it seems life got in the way for Frett, and his G36 mod seems to have been abandoned.

As to your decision, well I certainly could never, ever, go back to the WT G1000, after having used their amazing NXi.

......so I fly Rob Young's Turbo 🙂  Just be aware that there is a mod you need to do to the existing release to make it SU5 compatible.  Google 'Bert Pieke Bonanza Turbo fix' to get the details.
