I'm glad you've (almost) come round to JF's "Sport Model" Tristar.  Sure, it looks like it's been parked at Davis Monthan for far too long, but when it's up in the air where it's supposed to be it's actually quite nice 🙂  And at least it'll follow a nav course... (I had the Csim one drop out of nav 3 times in a row due to waypoints being too close together...)

I don't think any CS airplane likes close nav points, not even the glass jets. i generally program the INS from transition to (expected) transition and fly the procedures by the radio best I can. There's a good tutorial in the CS L1011 docs that shows how that works, although it's a pretty tricky approach into LEMD to learn on. You really have your hands full.

Maybe come back to thinking about the Milviz 732 at some point. Or maybe someone else can report what's broken that I've missed

I added a GPS and Tally´s V-one mod, which needs a bit different setup than in his installation. I will post a procedure for the P3D4 Milviz 737.

Can't wait! I took a random 300 mile run in the Great White North and found myself on approach toward a very short gravel airstrips with "Xs" on it for some strange reason. But I landed okay and used the convenient grass turnaround right before the treeline to taxi to the shed. Paul Tally's gauge will be a treat. I'm going to see about installing RolansRadar in it so I've got something. I bet a lot of these old birds have GPS now. Which one did you use?

Nav lights, landing lights etc?

T45

Landing, taxi, logo, wing lights.

Nav, beacon, and strobe lights seem OK, but there's no splash/illumination effect for me with landing or the other lights - so night ops are out for me.  If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it!  Thanks.

Just follow Tally's installation but don't change to #62 but #61, since sound files go only up to 61. I also shortened some links. But in detail, I try to write at home.

The GPS used is this

https://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=GPS2020&CatID=root&Go=Search#:~:text=gps2020-v12.4_385312.zip

and another one called GPSNew which I can't find here. I'm still switching between the two, uncertain which one is better.

Tally´s V-one gauge can be installed like this. Get this file here on avsim.com v-one_milziv_b737_v2.0.zip

First copy the files as described in his readme.

Then change the panel.cfg mostly like he did but with some differences. Modifications are bold.

Should work like this.

The GPS can be added here:

[Window01]
Background_color=47,79,79
size_mm=684,567
position=8
visible=0
ident=100

gauge00=gps2020!gps2020,  0,0,640,567 // 1. Example (only one is needed)

// gauge00=gpsnew!gps,  0,0,640,567 // 2. Example

// gauge00=p3dgps!gps_500,  0,0,640,567 // 3. Example

Then also for the VC

[Vcockpit21]
Background_color=47,79,79
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=512,512
texture=$B737_FreeSpace

gauge00=gps2020!gps2020, 0,0,410,512

// gauge00=gpsnew!gps,  0,0,410,512

// gauge00=p3dgps!gps_500,  0,0,430,512

Make sure to take both the same GPS

The ratio 410,512 is not perfect for GPS2020 or GPSNew. But the space is this way. It was rather the other way round, wider than tall.

The color of the background can be set. If it´s 0,0,0 it is transparent. I choose a greenish tone.

Here on my system. Not the best ground illumination but it´s here.

From the cockpit. The FMC remains black. Maybe the gauge is not working in P3D5 or never has?

YQLRWi8.jpg

The FMC seems to be dummy. In the middle screen it is possible to add a gps. Found this in QualityWings Avro Common\panel.146_100_200_HD

Add the following lines to the [Vcockpit02]-section in the panel.cfg

//--------default GPS--------------------------
gauge36=fs9gps!gps_500,  442,482,395,327
gauge37=QWings146!QW146_VC_WXR_Enable, 0,0,0,0

Just saw, the RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 with glass cockpit, have not working displays. What a pity. QW will never update this one I guess.

Yeah, I don’t even get the splash on the aircraft with a reinstalls (tried a good 3 or 4 times).  So you’re definitely already steps ahead of me in v5.

Don't forget the other legacy bird that with a few mods, flies splendidly in P3Dv5:  The JustFlight DC-10 HD.  For those of you familiar with the other thread about this bird, I've put together a pretty detailed mod guide to get it installed, update the cockpit sounds, revise the flight model, and even set it up with ISG gauges for an RNAV-capable DC-10.  Check it out:

The other JustFlight aircraft referenced in this thread that are actually developed by CLS (Commercial Level Simulations) likely work almost identically to the DC-10.  Certainly the install directions will be helpful, particularly for those other JustFlight aircraft updated for P3Dv4.  The sounds likely work the same too, however the variables would be quite different and I haven't purchased any JF/CLS aircraft beyond the DC-10 to fiddle with.  For those familiar with the DC-10 mod and who also possess an enterprising soul, the same Lua structure shouldn't be too nasty to adapt to other JustFlight/CLS aircraft.

Landing lights show up but they haven't got much forward throw.

10/10 for the Mammy Jammy DC10 (yeah ok the JF HD DC10) This is transformed into a high level payware quality aircraft in P3DV5.2 The original texture and modelling work was first class just the underlying coding for a few essentials that went astray. The DC10 is now simply - great!. A delight to fly in the sim and beautiful graphics and systems with no shortage of high quality HD paints about for it as well. My go to wide-body jet from this era.

My only observation is more of puzzlement - The Douglas aircraft companies aeroplanes, the DC-3 (Jahn), DC-4 (Flight Replicas), DC-6 (PMDG), DC-9 (Flight!-Coolsky), DC-10 (CLS) plus the Super 80 and B717 are all alive and well and useable in P3DV5 and all of very high quality indeed, yet, Boeings are virtually non existant apart from the later stretched tubes the 737 and 777. The British all are there too, the BAC 111, the VC-10, (Concorde as well?), the  JF 147 Pro is v good too but you cannot get a decent 707 or 727 or 757 or 767 or dare I say it the B747-200 or the B747SP (That was a another fascinating aeroplane). Not a single Convair 880/990 alas either (I checked them all none make it across the divide from FSX to a 64 bit P3D environment). Good to see the 737-200 looks like a goer though!

Hi Coastaldriver,

Captain Sim (yes I know, many people get grumpy when they read that) make a 757 and 767  for V5 as well.  I haven't tried, but I imagine their older 727, and 707 won't install into V5.  But as I said, I didn't try...

Welp, literally don't know where to start then...even with a fresh v5 install and default effects.  Darn.  Guess it'll remain in the hangar.
