MSFS playable on an i7-3770k with GTX1080?

Featured Replies

I plan on installing this on my other machine with the posted specs, but was curious as to how well it would run at 1080p with an i7-3770k and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 (8GB) GPU. I have 32GB of RAM and running Windows 10 pro.

ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

I have no experience with sutch a System but i would think it does work if you don't blow the settings all over to ultra - IMO..

cheers 😉

Well, I play it with an i7 processor and GTX1070, with ultra graphics settings, 30FPS cap, 1080p, really well.

The one caveat being that I don't use live traffic or multiplayer traffic. But if you do, I'm sure your system would run it at high graphics settings well enough. As the 1080 GPU can ostensibly handle 4K, it should handle high settings at 1080p without issues.

I run it nicely on an I7-4770k with GTX 1070TI and 16GB Ram. Very smooth, especially since SU5, even over large cities. I use mostly high settings on 2560 x 1080 monitor with vsync set to 30FPS. I usually have AI traffic and multiplayer off. Without vsync enabled I get FPS in the low 40s to low 50s, but it's smoother with vsync on. Best performance I have had on any sim during the life of my nearly 8 year old PC.

Assuming 1080p and you are happy to spend some time optimising settings rather than just choosing a generic medium/high/ultra - by all accounts that sort of system can cope well.

Obviously Ultra on a 4K Television, forget it.  But  a mix of high/ultra with a few things like traffic off running at 1080p 30 fps should be achievable.

Just try it and see how it goes -  you can always uninstall if your not happy with the performance.

This is true

Here i7-4770K@4,5 GTX1080TI all at Ultra (with the ressetting bug enabled at 4K@70% capped at 25FPS/HZ/VSYNC ON - Medium Glass refreshrate.

Mix High /Ultra 30FPS Vsync ON

Default GA aircrafts though

I am not sure why setting my 4K TV to refreshrate 25HZ gives me a very smooth 25HZ Vsync ON/60FPS experience but it does.

I am with I7 4790K & GTX 1080 in 4k (Render Scaling FSsetting 70%)  monitor with all high settings.V-Sync "ON" 30FPS and it's smooth as silk.Whatever the context.

The optimization that ASOBO has done is incredible.

I started MSFS on a similar spec machine before I upgraded, intel i5 coffee lake, MSI 1080gtx 1tb ssd and 16gig of ram it ran the sim well on high settings.

I have been wondering how it would run on my laptop. It has an I7-10750 with 16g of ram and a GTX1650 on a 1tb nVME. I have held back as the 1650 only has 4g of vram but I am going on vacation in Sept and mught just try it out.
