MSFS Addons Linker - organization idea tips

Featured Replies

I have finally managed to get all my addons installed and working with this app. But would love to hear how others are using the apps to keep things neatly organized. How are you dividing your addons, what categories and/or tags do you use. I'm trying to get more creative and find more useful ways to keep things neatly organized. Please share your ideas so we can learn from one another and make a really nice structure to keep all of our stuff nicely managed.

I currently divide my addons into the following categories (folders):

  1. Scenery (airports, POIs, landmarks)
  2. Libraries
  3. Meshes
  4. Boats (Henriks Global Ship AI)
  5. Utilities (pms gtn 750, shift-z stats mod, pushback mod)
  6. Textures (Seasonal Textures, etc)
  7. AI (Saving this for AIG)
  8. Liveries (and inside there I have subfolders for the different aircrafts)

I can't handle very many categories.

I have:
1.  Aircraft  (JF Arrow etc)
2.  Scenery  (right now not much, MagMexico Monterrey and a few others)
3.  Utilities  (pms gtn530, pushback mod, SimRateBandit etc. etc.)

If I had a season texture mod it would go in Scenery.  If I had Henrik ship AI it would go in....probably Scenery.  I have the FSDT Alps mesh, that goes in Scenery.

I figure with only 3 categories, even I can keep track of it all.

Very nice! I'm getting some more ideas, thanks for sharing!

I'm going to create subfolders inside of my Scenery and have different regions or continents. That's a great idea!

Hi,

It's the same as I did!

What a coincidence!

Cheers.

What type of Aircraft would you put the PMDG DC6 under? Commercial, GA, etc?

Virtually identical to what I am using.  I do have the USA regions subdivided into states in the case of some regions.

I ended up deleting all of my USA freeware because none of it seemed to be Su5 compatible, yet

In regard to both scenery (airports) and liveries, I am drilling in and selecting only those I plan to use for a specific flight.  That in attempts to avoid addons that have not been SU5/HF verified.

I'm really beginning to like this app. It lets me organize and fine tune my entire addon library.

ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

Hmm splitting Scenery into...continents.  That might be a nice idea.  The thing that bothers me about that would be a flight from say, KMIA down to South America.  I'd have a lot of active scenery that I wouldn't need.

Huh?  I'm using a ton of stuff still?  Haven't had any errors.  What are you finding incompatible?

I'm taking no chances. Anything that does not specifically identify itself as being compatible, I am deleting
