August 29, 20214 yr Moderator Silly me. I was at the VA Clinic day before yesterday morning for my semi-annual physical. My provider asked me if I wanted my mega-flu and shingles vaccines while I was there. I wasn't expecting just how sore both my shoulders would get. Double ouch! Aside from some mild hypertension and moderately high blood pressure, I'm apparently in otherwise good health. Fr. August 29, 20214 yr Administrators Sounds good, Bill! Ya gotta take care of yourself when you're old and decrepit. Being a youngster, myself, I take a daily blood pressure and cholesterol pill. Will have to stop by my local pharmacy this week for the flu shot. Already did the shingles vaccine. Looking forward to the "you know what" booster in a month or 2! 👨⚕️ Just got done with my weekly 🌯 injection! August 29, 20214 yr My wife's friend took the shingles shot and got the reaction that is 'exceedingly rare' On prednisone for three months. My wife got the pneumonia shot. The next day she fell in the driveway trying to take out the garbage with one arm because she couldn't move the arm that took the injection. That went on for three days. I'll take my chances thank you.

I had Ramsey Hunt which is Shingles on your scalp, in your ear, eye, throat and ended up hospitalized for over a week. Fortunately I do not have long term neuropathy on that side of the face but facial paralysis, ability to control the eye are all possible side effects. Imagine an open nerve over your entire head where it is so excruciating you can't put your head on a pillow, can't dream of a shower and water touching it and even someone blowing on it hurts. That's what my entire side of my head felt like because it also only attacks one side of your head so it is like a line drawn down the center and one side is fine, the other can't be touched. One of the worst pains I've ever had in my life and I've had 6 levels of spinal fusion and my hip replaced twice. I'd take any of those procedures again over Ramsey Hunt (Shingles) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 30, 20214 yr Yeah, shingles are no joke, the vaccine is important, protect yourself, don't take chances. my ex had one near the eye area, and if it were to spread further, it could of affected her vision or lost an eye, said by her doctor.

Aside from needing a cane or a walker I'm in pretty good shape myself...at least for another thousand miles or so. The VA provided me with a lovely big wheeled walker in a gorgeous "Cherry Red". I keep it stored in the trunk of my Camry. It has a zippered mesh bag to hold 'stuff', a seat and locking hand breaks! Talk about Deluxe. 🤠 I only pull it out whenever I know I'm going to be out of the car longer than I can be up on my own feet, because when I need to sit, I need to sit now! Whenever folks ask me how I'm doing, I smile and reply "I'm like my car, I'm old, tired and exhausted." 🤣 I'm giving serious consideration to purchasing an eBike so I can get a bit of exercise without too much strain: RadRunner 1 - Electric Utility Bike | Rad Power Bikes Fr. August 30, 20214 yr I remember a few years ago I went to my Doctor for something not needle related and she goes: "oh, you've had pneumonia before and you're high risk, you should have had a pneumonia vaccine by now: here you go". *ouch*. "oh geez, your tetanus shot is out of date, just a minute" *ouch* "hmm, it seems you're due for a booster for (I can't even remember what the third one was), just a sec" *ouch* I've been a diabetic most of my life but that was a lot of needles even for me!
