That's why I find this problem so frustrating. Assuming you have a payware EGLL and some Ai you'd expect to get any problems there at a busy airport. Not airborne with minimal load on the GPU. Around half-way in your flight by the sound of things.

Yes only in the air, Vram usage low, temps low, GPU usage 60%.  Its a crazy problem.  You would think LM would purchase or ask for copies of some payware aircraft so they could duplicate it and try to fix.

I think the 1962mhz is right. I have the FTW3 and it also shows 1962mhz with Nvidia Inspector .i use Inspector to drop this by 100-150mhz and creating shortcuts to desktop for easy access.

Michael Moe

I will try with inspector to drop and see what happens.

There is no surprise that this thread has received the interest and comment it has sparked. With everything being said, I will offer my comment. P3D v5.2 HFI works perfectly for me.. But, it took an upgrade of computer components to rid myself ofthe DXGI error. I was never one to overclock so that was not an issue. It was simply that I needed a better card, in my case the Nvidia 1660ti...along with a new MSI mobo, an I7 cpu and a non-water cooler. I have tweaked my p3d.cfg from time to time. I also use ACTIVE SKY, ACTIVE SKY CLOUD ART as well as ENVSHADE and ENVTEXT.

I have adjusted the NCP following a couple of points brought up in this thread, not because I needed to, but I was simply curious. No harm done.

My sim settings utilize EA as well as VC, though I go back and forth on the latter from time to time depending upon flight situations.

I set fps in the sim at 37, basically 1/2  my monitor refresh rate of 75mh. In addition I set vertical sync to adaptive (1/2 the refresh rate).

I wish the rest of you luck, but I really think the key is to have a system powerful enough to keep up with the demands of the software. Of course, that has been an issue since the very first computers, hasn't it?

My 2-hour flight to Istanbul was fine. That's 3 2-hour flights now without an issue.

I should probably fly KLAX-CYVR or YBBN-YSSY as those have caused this issue before.

According to TechPowerup GPU my 1080Ti has a GPU clock of 1506 and a Memory Clock of 1377.

That's perhaps asking too much unless more people complain on their forum. Each of us should post their findings there. Maybe that would make them pay more attention to what is an exasperating issue.

This problem doesn't appear to be related to the complexity of the scenery being drawn in the sim. If that was the case then I'd never get airborne out of EGLL, KLAX or other 'heavy' airports with AIG Ai adding to the load where I can just about reach 30fps with a 30Hz monitor and a GPU load nowhere near 100%.

Instead it occurs at altitude over sparse terrain. Work that one out! 😉 It's got me beat.

After reading this topic I can see why some are frustrated. I guess I should count myself lucky. I’ve been running P3Dv5 via updates as their released and have never had a CTD or Hung Error since installing v5 over a year ago. I run my sliders 3/4 to full right and have over a  hundred  add-on scenery and all the payware tub-liners installed. I don’t run any reg tweaks and only a few CFG adjustments to expand my LOD radius. I guess it comes down to finding a balance of hardware and software with your system.

Ray, I hope you can work this out. You appear to be one of our more knowledgable and dedicated simmer.

Now, if I may ask a question about AIG. i am in the process of setting it up. The setup asks for location of the AIG OCM Directory. Is it in the main AIG directory? if so, I have not found it. Some advice is appreciated and i apologize to everyone. I am not trying to hijack or misdirect this thread. Thanks.

Not dissimilar to my setup but the major difference is your 3090 over my still very capable 1080Ti especially when I limit fps to 30.

What “tubeliners”?

Thanks. 👍 Once I have an itch I have to scratch it. 😁

If you’re referring to the location where you want the parent application to go make sure it’s outside of any P3D installation. That’s important. I suggest a drive other than C and one that has at least 50Gb of space.

@Ray Proudfoot I suspect the combination of P3D v5 and the 1080Ti is making this worse for us.  Interestingly I have never had this issue with MSFS so is not my computer hardware.

I never had the problem with v4 when others did. I just think the sheer numbers in use of our card just means more are being affected. Just like the largest ISPs have the most complainants.

MSFS is only using DX11 await with interest the move to DX12.

Interestingly enough, 1080Ti was the ONLY video card during my 21-year simming "career" that actually blew with a horrible sound inside the PC. Just 2.5 years old.
